Anyone know how to generate a world with something more than a 5 tile frings of cold terrain at one extreme of the map??  cause I've generated several and that's all I get, which makes securing water a bit of a pain.

well I don't think I'll be seeing any Invasions with my current fort.  worth over 1.5M and while I've gotten MANY ambushes I think I've inflicted too many losses on them for there to be enough gobbos available for an invasion.  Ikon Relicseizure just butchers them, and he's not even using masterpiece weapons or armor!  ???

Last time I tried that I got a flooded smelter/forge area, and I'm not entirely certain why.  I'm horrible with diagrams or I'd put one up for ya'll to try figuring out where I went wrong, but nevertheless I've avoided magma since. (much to my dismay as fuel is a pain for large scale ops)  Could it have been that I used Grates instead of a solid floor?  The idea of the warm red glow in the forges was just too cool to pass up ;)

lol thanks guys.  I've gotten far enough for an invasion before just once, and while I loved the lay out, I didn't realize the gobbos could get onto the cliffs surrounding the open natural plaza I had in the middle of my fort.  It was a beautiful design though

Although I wasn't aware the 3rd party editor worked with the newer versions.

nice idea if I had magma...  I'm clearcutting forest for charcoal and trading for wood.   :o

I'm sure some of you know just how much of a pain that can be.  It's actually about to be something of a breaking point for me since I won't sell the gobbos' stuff, and don't have any way to destroy it.  An incinerator would be very nice, except I'd probably be taking another hit in the coal department  ???

pity about the lack of magma here though, I've got iron ore popping out my eyeballs, limestone for steel, everything I need except the magma to purge the need for low end fuel.

bah, soap makers are meant to be tread on.  Although if all this about bloody water is the case, then setting my fortress entrance up with the brook right outside may not have been the best move. 0.o

I've had several ambushes and the fighting almost always ends up in the water.

I've never had a kobold slip past my stone fall traps, and there's only a single row of them across the entrance to my fortress.  Course, the crossbowdwarves on the next Z up having a clear line of fire down the length of my entryway _might_ have something do to with this... maybe. ;)

Never really got into the fancier traps, but then I've had a hard time skicking with a fort long enough to get decent sieges.
