DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Custom profession names.. do you use them?

I do this to remind me of things. If your profession isn't activated and you're used for hauling you're a Hauler. Dwarfs with prior military experience get nicknamed M-M and M-R for melee and ranged skill sets to make them easy to locate for drafting. Should they skill up to legendary though I'll often remove the nickname as it is very unlikely that they'll ever be drafted. After they're in the military they revert to their actual name but the get a custom title based on their weapon choice (I allow all melee dwarfs to choose their own weapon) Sworddwarf, Axedwarf, Flaildwarf, whatever. If they are the captain of their squad they are Swordcaptain, etc... The militia commander is (currently) a Spearcommander. Marksdwarf for the ranged dwarfs. I like my military to stand out in the list.
If I need more miners or woodchoppers they get the custom title 'Digger' or 'Choppychoppy' until they skill up enough to change color. At that point I remove it. Other professions will get 'Mason-trainee' or 'Mech-trainee', etc... for the same purpose.
Many times I give the Haulers engraving duty as well, so they eventually end up all together at the top of the list, nice and grey.
I remember the '-smith' titles from Headshoots and though I liked them I've never adopted it.
