I got a camel bone throne that way. Worth 1200.

Still, artifact!

The Baroness is quite happy with her throne room now.

Mine is one of a bunch of quick little things I drew in Paint and then saved as jpg.

For some reason, I liked this one. It just grew on me.

Tinrain has fallen to that most implacable of foes - stupidity. I installed .16 and forgot to change Backups to YES and Compressed Saves to NO. I addition, I moved my save over rather than copied it. And then I played for a bit, saved and exited.

Tinrain never loaded again, trapped in the chaos of Save Corruption, betrayed by its Maker.

I'm a moron.

However, in unrelated news (perhaps related, we'll see), I have a grand new idea for my next fortress!

-train your own lashers equiped with the whips of the goblins you kill (untested)

I let my militia pick their own weapons. My Militia Commander chose a bronze whip I bought off the humans.

He doesn't have as many kills as the spear/sword/axe wielders in the army but he is the one generally leaving the swath of crippled enemies behind for those guys to finish off. When Sica the Hydra came he was fracturing its skulls and managed to bruise its heart, liver and a lung through its fat. And nothing beats seeing him knock arrows and bolts out of the air with the whip. Lightsabre indeed. I should custom title him 'Jedi Master'.

Among other things:
He is unbelievably strong, extremely agile and indefatigable.
He has an astounding feel for the position of his own body.
No drawbacks.
Legendary Lasher
Legendary Fighter
High Master Dodger
Expert Shield User
Professional Armour User

Oh, and he's a Legendary Clothier due to creating Laudworn the Angry Murder, a giant cave spider silk dress.

Sorry, went off on a tangent there but yeah, lashers work.

My favorite Ironblood quote (from fairly early in the story):
Quote
A child pulled me aside today. He asked me why it was so white outside.
I told him that everything was covered in snow.
He asked me what was below the snow.
I told him that bones were below the snow.

This is Nist Akath. This is where the undead come to find rest.
This is where they come to find my kindly axe.

I wish they could starve already, my FPS is bad enough as it is xD

Hate to tell you this, but I believe they will never starve. Get started on Plan B!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Weapon mixes in squads?
« on: October 01, 2010, 01:02:58 pm »
I use three-dwarf squads (currently have 7 in a 121 dwarf fort). I let them choose their own weapon and just run with whatever they want to use. My Militia Commander chose a bronze whip of all things. My first real champion, an axedwarf who had 12 kills when the rest of the fort combined had less, has since lost his axehand and now fights on with his steel shield alone. The same steel shield which after his 'disarming' has so far has taken the life of 2 goblins, a troll and a hydra.

Damnit I cannot... resist... being... correctional! Forgive me!

Boatmurdered.

Bronzemurder.

No -ed in Bronzemurder. I got them all mixed up myself for a while but now that it's straight in my head I cannot help myself.

Hello. My name is Indricotherium and I am a correcter.

EDIT: Misspelled Boatmurdered BoaRtmurdered. Hoisted by my own petard!

I'm crazy interested in geology now. And as a result have learned that eastern MA (in the US, where I am) used to be part of Africa back in the day (WAY back in the day). Good stuff!

I haven't migrated to .14 yet due to the invaders thing

You still get invaders in 31.12 forts running under 31.14. I just moved over with my current fortress and there's a goblin ambush squad jumping a bunch of haulers working out at the lignite strip mine right now. So unless you want a new world, I'd say pack your old fort up and come on in, the invaders are fine!

Definitely the second one.

I'm throwing syllables to the wind here, I just like the way this flows:

Fisherdwarf crouches in the shallows
Soon a wriggling catch will be in hand
Great wings blot out the sun
