If I can manage to single out an acid mound, I just remove my weapon and armor, punching the acid to keep from wrecking equipment.

Right now I have a +10 axe of speed. Axes can hit all enemies next to you at the same time, and with the speed enchantment, I get another turn 75% of the time I hit something. The two combined means I frequently clear a room of enemies without taking a scratch. Also have an allied troll + staff of healing. Better not let this run go to waste.

100 rogues is still my favorite roguelike for iphone, please someone tell me one thats better. I wish we had Crawl.

RogueTerm

A telnet app used to connect to crawl.akrasiac.org, and play DCSS. I think it could even play Crawl on a 3g connection.

Well, first off you need some wrestling experience, which is very easy to get. Find a groundhog or something equally non threatening, and play around with grabbing body parts with your hands. Yes, hands, you'll have to put your weapon or shield away to wrestle properly.

With some experience under your belt, you can grab enemy limbs with your hands, which will give options based on what part you grab. Grabbing the head allows for the gouging out of their eyes, grabbing a hand will let you lock and break a wrist, and so on. Just experiment a little. Oh, and have FUN

Brogue is my favorite roguelike, hands down. Easy to learn, hard to master, but importantly, also easy to control.
There is such a heavy amount of interaction between items and mechanics that gives the game some of the best emergent gameplay I've seen, despite how accessible it is.

Sounds like a plan! Anyone have anything they suggest as a personality/restriction? :)
Unarmed only!

Recommended, it's a blast.

Weren't there TWO Shadowruns for the Genesis?

There was a SNES Shadowrun, and a Genesis Shadowrun, both being completely different games.

The iPhone also has RogueTerm, an app for playing roguelikes over the net
Connecting to crawl.akrasiac.org with it works well enough that Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup can be considered mobile :)

I dropped a useless piece of armor in a bandit hideout.
One of the bandits promptly came running down the hallway to ask if he could take it.
I said yes and sent him on his merry way.

He was halfway back down the hallway before he decided to attack me after all.

That sounds like its either from an anime, or an old cartoon. Either way the mod itself is quite cool looking from ze video.

It's Hokuto no Ken, or Fist of the North Star. A great anime out of the 80's that's worth checking out.

Omae wa mo shindeiru.

Edit: Disregard this mod for the time being, it seems the download has been compromised with a trojan

I'm waiting for a clear picture of this year's chaos to emerge.  Doesn't look like anyone died this time.  I'm impressed.

Maybe nobody died, but a few people did get maced in the face in the name of "competitive shopping."
Yes, it happened in a Wal-Mart, where else?

Funny to see this thread pop up. I was just looking into joining a gym.

While playing tonight, I knocked down a wall holding up a portion of the ocean.

The result was a cascade of water flowing like a river through the desert. What shocked me is what ended up chasing me halfway across that rather large desert, before I found a pit and could take a screenshot.

I've gotten good at quickly flicking my character in a different direction to shoot and then backing up while the enemies come after me.
That's kind of difficult when there's about 10 minotaurs on either side of you though :P

Use the numpad to shoot if you have one, with wasd for moving. It makes life much much easier.

Try Shiren the Wanderer for DS before you write off the Mystery Dungeon games entirely, as it brings proper roguelike difficulty to the table.
If you want to just try it out, you could always emulate the SNES version.
