My latest adventurer chopped several bogeymen in half and slaughtered a kobold ambush by biting them in the throat and shaking them around.

And sometimes you counter a kobold ambush by biting them in the throat and shaking them around until their throat is ripped out.

I just chopped two bogeymen in half, cut one's leg off then chopped him in the gut and head, then chopped another one into bits before daybreak. It was fun. I wonder what'll happen to the bogeyman head I grabbed.

I made an agile axeman myself, actually. Currently managed to fend off (and kill two of) my skinless two-tailed bogeymen attackers. Of the remaining three, one is on the ground bleeding out, one is stunned, and one is trying to bit my shoulder off.

"Dawn is breaking"

I was just surrounded by bogeymen. The ones in my world are strange plant creatures with fleshy wings and trunks. I wasn't doing well, they were biting me and clawing me.

Then my dwarf went into a martial trance and three of them died quickly.

Then I went into a rage (?) and the rest died one after another, and the cackling faded.

Huzzah!

Huh, I didn't know the bogeymen had random genned appearances. I might have to make a character just to find out how mine look.

Edit: They look like "Small skinless humanoids with two hanging tails."

Okay, in an effort to stave off the bogeymen, I brought friends when I went after some outlaws. We travel hard for a couple days, no sign of the dirty little creatures, and I sigh with relief. Seeing that my character is "Tired", I camp just short of the outlaw camp and sleep for the night, and see my friends do the same.

I wake up the next morning and they are gone.

I travel the one square to the outlaw camp, cave a man's head in with my shield, get a guy in an headlock and punch a hole in his face, and go after the last one and stab him in the head. After a long (and quite fun!) battle I finally begin my triumphant return to the village.

I camp.

Seven bogeymen.

GODDAMNIT.

I love that I can now get people in headlocks in order to punch them repeatedly in the face with complete precision.

Edit: I don't like the bogeymen.

How do people still not know this? Just read the Dev Log, it answers most things!

Newbie modding question - when I add a new weapon, how do I make a skill associated with that weapon? I want to be able to allocate it.

I always associate Catten with my female dwarf hunter in my first successful fort in 40d who personally had over 200 kills before the other dwarves had a third of that, (I nicknamed her "Wolfbane") had nightmares about wolves and slowly died in her bed after having her throat ripped out.

(In hindsight, I bet she was having premonition-nightmares about being killed by that blasted wolf!)

You kn also break legs and tear off noses, ears, fingers, etc... And should you wish, you can tear clothes off.

I still want to know why stealing the socks off a sleeping man is a crime punishable by death in this game...

You don't actually gouge the eyes out, you just break them open.

Like with eggs!

I just realized that I could press "enter" when targeting someone with the 'A'ttack key to change into wrestle mode, where I was able to choose to grab hold of any part of their body with any part/weapon of mine, break it, tear it out, etc.

Am I late to the party or is this a new feature? I didn't see anything about this on the Wiki. Maybe I missed it.

Pretty sure this has been around since wrestling.

Now all you have to do is learn how to grab somebody's head and rip out their eyes.

Tch.
What's stopping you from building a tower MADE OF the bones of the dead?

The same thing that's stopping me from making the tower out of the corpses themselves.

It would smell something foul. I may be an evil overlord, but I have standards.

DF Modding / All-female caste races?
« on: September 24, 2010, 09:21:17 pm »
Now, I'm a little curious if it's possible with the new version (I have .12) to make an all-female race? And is there a way to make them not die out after world-gen? I'm sure this is a relatively simple, newbie question, but I still have to ask here.

(There'll be more specific race details I'll likely need help with later, as well - like making them about size of elves, giving them horns and claws, but making their facial features generally pretty. I want to also make them generally tan-skinned with golden eyes and dark hair. They also had fawn-like goat ears when I originally made them, and little lion tails. They're a personal race of mine.)
