I have added two most easily recognizable beetles from Carabus genus into ground beetles family. I like these guys since I meet them sometimes at the place where I spend my summer holidays, I got interested and learned quite a lot about them actually. I was going to add Carabus Coriaceus which is the biggest one of them, but it doesn't have any proper english name, and english wiki article about him is very short. I guess I will have to somewhat live without this species added to DF... ;P

Marksdwarves are buggy and useless at the moment. You will be very lucky if they ever shoot at archery range, and even then they will never fire a single bolt in combat.

Berserk dwarves are sort of no longer members on your fort. If you abandon, the berserk dwarf will be hidden somewhere in the map, and will ambush-attack if you come close.

Basically:
1. Wait for a strange mood using stone (mason/stonecrafter/engraver/miner).
2. Before the moody dwarf claims a workshop make a burrow containing your excess stone but not the workshop, then assign the moody dwarf to this burrow.
3. Have fun while your dwarf grabs 239569 pieces of stone into his workshop.
4. Delete the burrow, so the dwarf can finally start the artifact.
5. ? ? ?
6. Profit!

I was buying native aluminium from dwarven caravans just fine. Not sure about aluminium bars, I don't remember.

It might be that your civilization has no access to aluminium. Have you tried it in another fort/game/world?

I am getting frustrated with military/equipment/combat bugs from time to time, but these were expected. I am very happy with this release in general, but can't wait for the worst bugs to be fixed to save some annoyances.

i think i'll use it once, just to see what i can make. Or if i get bored. But i prefer to run an honest, non-exploitive game.

of course, using it will make the goblins throw hissy fits, and send thousand upon thousand of warriors at once, and...

you know, i'm not sure WHAT i really want.

I think I am going to use it all the time. It is much funner way to dispose excess stone that all others possible. And a super-valuable artifact actually doesn't give you any unfair advantage, only makes goblins send bigger sieges. But I like that sort of Fun.

You build cage traps to catch large animals. "Animal trap" is for vermin only.
But yeah elves are the easiest source of interesting animals.

This exploit definitely works.

My already legendary engraver got a fey mood and claimed a craftsdwarf workshop. So I got a good occasion to test the whole thing and get rid of stone I didn't want. I have set up a proper burrow, then deleted it once he grabbed all I wanted so he could actually start. He turned 316 pieces of stone (mostly microcline and gypsum) and one grizzly bear leather into a ... mug. No idea how he has packed all this into a mug which weights only 2 dwarfpounds... Anyway I got an artifact worth 384000☼ and much less stone cluttering my hallways. This is my new favorite exploit!

I have had roasts made entirely of dwarven syrup in 0.31.03 without any problems. No idea why it works for me but not for you. Maybe it is related to [TEMPERATURE:OFF] which I set for better FPS, it may prevent them from changing state back into liquid.
