"Make room in the garbage dump; here comes a some more -Large Wooden Armors-"
you forgot narrow

It only distinguishes narrowness for clothing that is otherwise the proper size, I think.

I thought something useful was going to come out of this when I saw the title, along the lines of dwarves make the most money from farming.

Well, farming, along with a good cooking or clothesmaking program, is[/b] very profitable.

Well, you can have them not announce job cancellations.  But then you also won't get cancels task: interrupted by goblin elite bowman.

Also I'm slightly disappointed it wasn't some sort of assassin. I think assassination attempts would be a good idea though, especially if they went for your champions. We'd see a lot of furious posts on this forum.

Cog Axegranite has slept uneasily due to noise lately.  He has woken to find a slain assassin next to his bed lately.

...only to have a bloody immigrant glassmaker come over all queer the moment he steps foot onto your sand-free map.   >:(

Could be worse.  It could have been your dabbling-weaponsmith woodcutter with lots of friends, who collected a bar of steel, two bars of gold, a few cut gems... and demanded glass as the final material.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: how is your underground river?
« on: September 04, 2008, 03:56:12 pm »
My current underground river appears out of nowhere in the middle of the map, travels a short distance, and falls into a pit.  I was expecting it to be longer.

Regarding size: keep in mind that hunting wild pigs was dangerous.  They should definitely not be small.

I'd expect so, yeah.  Possibly rock blocks?  What else is the dwarf asking for?

It should just be stone.  A quarry is a very large hole in the ground, dug for extracting stone.

Elves eat meat.  Elves eat the bodies of their fallen enemies.

...Like filling your waterskin.  It's cool that you can do it, but, I imagine later, when you hit shift-i instead of ONLY being able to fill your waterskin, you will also be able to fill buckets, and helmets, and whatever is cointainerish, as well as a number of other interesting interactions.

You can also fill backpacks, by the way, and I think quivers.  Including with blood, should a pool of it be convenient.

I was digging a big tunnel from the forested area where I had my initial outpost and farming center to the higher, mountainous section where I plan to build my primary fortress, and my miners smashed right into the upper level of an underground river.  It was above the water line, so no damp stone warning.  A mob of lizardmen and snakemen instantly poured out and slaughtered two experienced miners, leaving me with five citizens to produce enough wealth to attract some immigrants.  Not to mention a tunnel full of murderous reptiles.

It was a tiny river, too.  It appeared out of nowhere, and poured almost immediately into a bottomless pit.  Any significant distance to either side, and I'd have missed it completely.

While in the stocks menu, press tab.  This toggles between overview mode and viewing each individual item.
