A possum snuck in about a week ago actually. Normally I wouldn't care but I was in a shitty mood so I shot it.
Was that a joke? Are they a pest where you are?

General Discussion / Re: Small "interview" about music.
« on: October 09, 2009, 01:10:41 am »
I'll cut to the chase, my ears are more fcked from concerts and mp3's than anything, though I don't listen to music loud, even if it's prolonged. My ears get fatigued but I think that's more to do with the mp3 audio spectrum than prolonged listening.

I think you would make a pretty good judge aquizzar, you're among the fairest on this forum and it's where your interests seem to lie.. My chief vent is it's peopled largely by those whose highest authority is the government/media/religion/not themselves. Bear in mind I'm not USain, I'm not telling you how the place should be, nor am I saying it's like that there more than here. Anyway I think 'to fix some shit' are the right reasons.

I'm probably a fugitive as well, I know I had legal fees in a territory of this country in excess of $1500, but I'm in a state now, god bless beauracracy.

You could try to see if there's any spiritual gatherings in your area soon, usually is in a big city. I just looked up "gems spiritual" and came up with a few links

All boloney probably, with no concurrence, might be worthwhile looking at whether they were used at all in history, thiss link is great:

Following is a link to Pliny the Elder's 'Natural History', but on the previous link there are all sorts of references to different 'lapidaries', which means, as far as I can tell, books on minerology.

General Discussion / Re: Microsoft reinventing itself
« on: October 06, 2009, 08:20:31 am »
I wonder if they still act like the morality police in windows7? in regards to cd-burning. I noticed something about microsoft and realplayer youtube downloads yesterday, can't remember exactly but it seemed like a good business deal, for them(i didn't take it) .

Microsoft can't afford to be lax these days, with more people switching over to linux and apple.

Creative Projects / Re: So I had an idea for a video game
« on: October 05, 2009, 07:27:14 am »
So, the more ideas you have, the better it is to write them down anywhere.

Here's the perfect solution, write 'em down, in code. I guess that's what i was getting at, writing it uncodified is 2nd best.

But i know what you mean by shit slipping past and changing the whole feel, and pre-design would catch a lot of it. I guess it's all one and the same ideally..

Yeah no design decisions will have to be culled if you keep it in your head, but what do you think about keeping the gist - the quickest thought of it - in your head? To maintain novelty and keep motivation up..

In my experience, it's usually preferable to spell out your ideas - in your head or on paper - than to implement them, and that's the barrier the game builder must surmount. Every game builder is doing one or the other or even nothing.

The fact that you're unwilling to reveal much about the idea suggests you aren't ready to start implementation. Theorising is proving more rewarding and it always will so long as it takes preference.

Life Advice / Re: No extra time, why am I on this forum?
« on: October 03, 2009, 11:38:33 pm »
I noticed that I'm on this forum more when I have less time. When I have a lot of things to do, I don't even consider being here.

A postgraduate explained it to me last week. I forgot the exact term for it, but when we're stumped, we sometimes do nothing. E.g. most people when confused scratch their heads. When you're stumped, like stuck on a math question or something you can't find the solution to, you have two options:
1. Keep trying.
2. Look somewhere else for the solution.

Since both of these options go in opposite directions, the human mind decides to do.. nothing. People call it procrastination, but it's not really, since you don't want to procrastinate.

General Discussion / Re: The Philosophy Thread
« on: October 02, 2009, 10:40:43 pm »
I would eschew, in my prolix view, 'philosophy is poetry clarified, its' subject explained, sufficing the meter remain unchanged.
Meter? Perhaps measure is the better word, so fits the studied view, where a philosophy branch has rooted anew. No, I'll leave that to those under peer review, the sophists, the educated herd.

Life Advice / Re: Insomnia
« on: October 01, 2009, 10:50:15 pm »
Doing some research, I don't think there's been overdoses on either drug. However, " Melatonin is a very new product, and side affects are little known. " (1) . Whereas pot has been used safely for thousands of years.

I've never taken melatonin, but just browsing around I can see there are various concerns. (Eg. tolerance buildup, higher doses becoming counterproductive).

If sleeping aides are becoming less effectual than cannabis is a worthwhile consideration imo.
