Mongoo is flippin' every where. Anyone get how elections work yet, by the by? I don't want to chance a hostile take over.

Edit: Hired a Dwarf Mage, level 3. Decent stat spread. Not the best, but at least it's a dorf. How do I find the location of an orb, by the by? It's "north" of a town, but there's a lot of north to cover.

You simply have to scour the area. Look for enemy groups as the orb spawns them, but other than that its just trial and error so far as I know

Anyone who's conquered towns before we unite the kingdom, you can change the loyalty of towns you own so they can join the kingdom as well.

Also, just conquered a prosperity 26 town with my 7-man level 8 team. Seasoned guards are pretty tough, so watch out with those town raids!

About what level should you be to take a town?

Does it require muscle or will it just sorta happen?

You can also raid a town at level 8, which is another way to take it over. That, obviously, requires muscle although I have no idea how much. Probably best to stay away from PCs and stick to assaulting towns with NPC mayors.

On another note, the area around Millcross (26,37) has at least 3 other independent cities, so its a possible starting point for our kingdom I guess.

Every time I visit a recruitment center I'm tempted to sell my mage. I have it on good authority however, that they'll rock in later levels and so consider it a long-term investment, the stupid git.

I've completed my mapping of the dungeon at 48,25 near Juniperfort and Valiantsand and confirmed that there were no secret areas there. Having thoroughly looted the place, I proceeded to do a slew of quests for Juniperfort and then travelled westwards to the independent town of Millcross, situated somewhere in the wild borderlands between the kingdom of Staberinde and the kingdom of Time.

I'm embarrassed to admit that my party only consists of 2 dwarves of a total of seven members, the complete list being:

Regdar of Flourlake, human warrior
Korgan Coallungs, dwarf warrior
Elora Dannan, human priest
Jone Sear, dwarf priest
Carnagan the Red, human mage
Safaya Swyfte, elf archer
Beulah Honeysucker, human archer

You have to be level 8 to submit yourself as a voting candidate (at least by a capital city).

Once I'm a bit stronger, I'll start to migrate in a generally southern direction, it looks like a good place to get started without getting into a power struggle with another kingdom.

I'm level 8 :D.

When's the next vote? Everbody in Bay12 can vote for me in a town. Once I have 8 towns, I can form up the Kingdom and recruit you guys into it - followed subsequently by handing out towns to everyone :P

Where are you at currently, Azkanan?

Okay, I'll meander about until then. Still wandering the sewers, despite being level 2. There's a magical chainmail in the town shop I have my eye on.

I found that once you start hitting level 3 you'll probably want to leave the sewers. Remember you can ask sages for the location of dungeons.

I actually just wandered to the next town at level 2, nothing I found I had any chance against. Got a fresh set of sewers (With a chest in it!) and a few more magic items in the shops.

I might just wander around and buy all the magic items I can get my hands on really.

Didn't know about the sages though, thanks!

I had to visit 3 different sages before I got one who could find a dungeon for me. Alternately, you can get quests that involve raiding dungeons and that should give you a dungeon location as well, but those are supposedly a lot more difficult. Which town are you in now?

Concerning weight and movement, Strength determines your maximum encumberance and Constitution determines your movement factor, so the key to a good movement factor is high strength and constitution and a low load.

Also, for anyone who has input on the game, Mutant (the developer) seems to log onto the chat on a daily basis if anyone wants to talk to him or has any suggestions. He seems pretty friendly and open to suggestions :)

Edit: Just headed a bit west, to Juniperfort. I'm a bit closer to our intended destination and closer to the dungeon at 48,25 as well.
Also, if anyone needs some destinations here's a listing of the towns I've visited so far:

Town Name  / Prosperity / Coordinates / Mayor / Kingdom
Deafpall       / 94 / (54, 10) / ? / Staberinde
Flourlake      / 28 / (61, 2)  / NPC / Staberinde
Juniperfort   / 68 / (41, 26) / Count Brass / Staberinde
Oxness        / 83 / (54, 16) / ? / Staberinde
Slate Port    / 78 / (60, 9)  / ? / ?
Stagdell       /88  / (54, 37) / ? / Free City
Threetroll     /59  / (47, 33) / Snorri / Staberinde
Upperbit       /58 / (67, 2) / ? / ?
Valiantsand  /81 / (54, 22) / ? / Staberinde

I found a chest in the sewer and it had a set of full plate and splint plate armor. Is this good? I was previously without any armor.

Yes, armour is better than no armour  8)

Of course, armour also encumbers you which affects your movement factor, but get your guys armoured ASAP

I have been playing for a couple days as Intrepid Lil Group. Seems like a cool game starting out (has the feel of an undeveloped world of newbie adventurers) and hopefully it has staying power.

Anyone know if those small turquoise squares on some of the sewer tiles are anything but decoration? With all the talk of chests, I thought maybe those were chests somehow, but I have wasted enough turns searching and have given up thinking there are any chests in the sewer of this backwoods town I started in. Suprisingly, the town did have a poor blacksmith show up overnight, so now he can repair my gear. I'm planning to make a long excursion to the dungeon at 48,25 if it's still there after the day change, since I'm at 21,25 now.

In terms of our growing monster compendium: When I face a group of Bugbears it says I have a good chance to win, however, they hit quite hard (4 dmg) and slow down my party's progress even if I win.

Chests are brown and some places don't have them or don't have a lot of them. The dungeon at 48,25 is still there as far as I can see and it has plenty of chests, but is also somewhat tougher than sewer bashing. If you're kitted out decently you should be able to handle it. Although my squishy little mage has died there once or twice, everyone else is doing just fine

You need to get armor. Bugbears would rape my HP until I spent about 300 gp on armor at a nearby town away from my starter town, I've been kicking ass ever since. Been upgrading my guys to metal shields (3 def, 88 gp) and def-5 armors that are sold at the town next to my original spawn town.

Apparently, we spawn in these shitty little towns but if you travel to other towns they sometimes have much better gear.

I travelled one town over to go from prosperity of 33 to a prosperity of 85, which makes a huge difference both in available equipment and healer bills.

Warning: Currently there's a band of 9 werebears at (53,20), just off the road of Valiantsand.

In the sewers its usually pointless. Only use it once every 5-6 tiles to find hidden doors, the chest with awesome weapons/armor could be hidden. It wont really be useful til you hit a REAL dungeon, not a rat-infested sewer.

P.S, once you're level 2-3, go exploring out of town. As long as you're smart and use scout to figure out what you're in for, you'll survive. Dark elves, skeletons and goblins are easy to kill at our level. Gorgon, basilisks, etc, will rape you. Keep this in mind and you'll do fine. Try to find another city nearby, they'll have different shops, wares, and a different sewer for you to loot. :)

Watch out for Giant Wolves, they're tougher than you'd initially think. I had more problems with wolves than with minotaurs and trolls

I have a 14k Pike which can cast haste, does ice damage, and adds turns to my party. I think I'll rename UristMcSwordsdwarf..

Nice, better than anything I have for sure. At least I picked up a couple of Movement Factor-increasing items so my teams unloaded movement factor is up from 2 to 4

AS my last party decided to die, I created a new party: The Fellowship of the  Beard.
Now where can I meet you all?

I'm currently at Valiantsand at (54,22) but there's no rush. Better you level up your guys and get some decent equipment, travelling in the wilds can be very dangerous I've been told.

I'd go for 'Kingdom of the Twelve Bays' as well. And then we just need to conquer enough towns on water to make that a reality!

Sounds like a plan. Not sure if there's other water than lakes in the game, haven't seen any large bodies yet.
