So do you guys focus on mining mainly along with being do-gooders? Obviously not pirates but this game confuses me. I guess I'll get the hang of it.

Do-gooders? No such thing in EVE :P

I dont think the Bay12ers have anything specific against pirating. Most of us probably dont have the experience and skills to do it effectively yet though.

I am in favor of the move to the new system you describe.

As for the roam, where will it be? I assume in Ordion's neighboring lowsec systems for now. I cant guarantee I'll show up to the roam itself, but hopefully I can transfer the frigates I have stocked to someone that will be there, so that newbs can use them.

Since I don't have the knowledge, skills and ISK needed to excel in PVP, I'd rather avoid it and focus on PVE content for now. I have combat skills training plan (using EVEMon) for the first 12 months and in the meantime will work on wealth building to reach self-sufficiency. Missioning and mining seem ideal.

I am constantly told that PvP can be done with minimal character skills in a simple frigate. Sure, you wont be winning much, and you wont be able to solo and will have to do it in a fleet, but you will gain the actual skills (not character skills) that you need to be a good PvPer.

But don't mind me, I've yet to PvP in EVE myself. Though I am eager to try some frig PvPing, and am willing to give cheap-fitted frigates (currently Merlins and Griffins) free of charge to newbs who cant afford disposable ships (Though the fits would probably need to be tweaked depending on what character skills the character has.)

Scriptwolf, you could easily train some basic frigate skills stuff if you want to participate in PvP with the people down in Orduin, since its likely gona be random newb PvP anyways so not worth getting big ships out.

im way past that mate i think i have cruiser skills :P currently running a hurricane

only thing i am worried about is not haveing the correct skills for weapons, shields, Armour, jammers and other bits and bobs

But... But... I can drive battlecruisers, yet I'll be exclusively using frigates while flying with the bay12 guys :P

In any case, just don't bring cruisers that you cant easily replace to PvP.

*stuff about missiles*

I agree. I think that the general consensus is that missiles are good for lazy missioners who prefer minimal thinking during mission grinding over maximal efficiency/speed, but are no way near as good for PvP as turrets.

We're running some missions tonight, may do some mining if people are interested in it, but I think the day old players would like a little bit more isk behind them before we jump into a low-sec roam. But there's definite interest, so probably within the next few days, maybe the weekend. I would recommend those who come, run with the assumption whatever ship they take wont be coming back lol, and then if it does, that's a bonus, but if it doesn't, you'll likely have set aside enough money to cover it if that was your main missions ship.

If you guys roam on Saturday or Sunday, I'll probably be able to come along. But maybe not if its on Thursday or Friday.

I was planning to haul as many ultra-cheap frigates as I could carry, exactly because there's no point in investing too much into a random newbie roam. And also because I've been itching to fly a Griffin and ECM the fuck out of everything. I'll probably just bring as many Griffins as I can. I have a fit designed that costs 1.5mill tops, so its so cheap I can just hand out some to anyone who wants to ECM too.

Which reminds me: Whoever is down there, check for me if there are any Griffins for sale (preferably for not more than 500k), so that I only cart the fittings without the whole frigates too.

I even do L3s with a cruiser (Navy Caracal) relatively easily. Bigger ships are not necessarily always better.

Anyways, have any solid plans for a mining trip or a low-sec roam or something materialized?

Aww, I'm based off in Galente space, and have rather bad Amarr relations to boot :/

Maybe I'll fly over there in a few crappy frigates, or just buy some on the spot. I've played for a while but have never participated in PvP, so maybe some lowsec roaming would be a nice change of pace. Or maybe I'll just stick to whatever you people do in highsec, because I dont like being podded and losing implants.

In any case, maybe the Bay12 people should join the old bay12 public chat channel, just so that bay12 around the universe can communicate easily.

EDIT: I believe the chat channel was called Bay12 Eve

Huh. They should have some hint about it being possible to drag the thing around. If I hadn't read that here, I would have thought there were only 25 skills!

To grow silverwoods, did you try using the magic thaumcraft hoe that instantly grows stuff? I think it works on silverwoods.

If you take mod suggestions, here's a nice mod that fits nicely in your insanely modded techno-mod server:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1636785-machinemuses-modular-powersuits/

Basically, an extremely modular version of IC2's powered armors, plus with cross-mod abilities being planned (for example, Thaumcraft goggles and wand integration into the power suits).

Anyways, does this server have a whitelist, or can I jump in as soon as I figure out how to install all the stuff?

So, what exactly will the goal be in this game? Will there be a campaign? Will there be a need to capture locations and gather resources to build more robots? Etc...

Or is it just a general-purpose robot-building-and-combat sandbox?

Assuming even 50 of those 400 people play a lot, they'll each have more than 1 character at a time, plus hirelings. The world certainly will not be empty.

Well, it's Sunday evening. Will anything be released tonight as promised or should I spare my F5 key?
