DF Adventure Mode Discussion / A Lone Mad Dwarf

Ok, guys, a weird thing just happened to my adventurer. I was exploring one of my previously-abandoned fortress and, when i reached the main hall, found there one of my carpenters with a red "!" on him (berseker, i asume). He attacked me at sight, of course, and i had no choice but to kill him.

Is this normal, i mean, werent all the dwarfs suppoused to abandon the fortress?  ???

Lets asume we have an creature "A" with an Materialbreath and an dragon "B" with firebreath fighting with "A".

What hapens now if this two breath attacks meet each other? Especally if the "Material-breath" was from an material with an low ignitepoint. Or an Water-breath meeting an fire-breath?

Are we heading to a Dragon Ball mod?? that could be AWESOME

there are going to be new options for adventure mode? Like mining, choping, and a very basic building system.

although, with the new venoms and body parts, combats in adventure mode are going to be more and more interesting...

Keep up the good work, Toady!

Hey, very nice mod! i would be interested in doing some graphical tilesets for it!
Take a look at my pixel artworks, and send me a MP if you like the idea!

DF Modding / Re: A 3D DF mod (in it's infancy) and a request

Dwarf Fortress Canīt be played in 3D. The surroundings of the fortress can be represented in 3D, but the game canīt be actually played in a full 3D engine. So please, letīs keep that wonderfull ASCII, wich gives more information than any 3D tile.

It would not be dwarf fortress any more.

DF Suggestions / Re: Goblin Camps
« on: September 23, 2008, 04:21:25 pm »
I think humans and elves may have diferent behaviours, as they are more "civilizated" than goblins. Maybe the elves start some kind of weird nature elemental invocation in your nearest forest, or the humans send some diplomats to negotiate your rendition. You decide to accept it or give back their heads using your catapults.

Urist stops collecting herbs: disturbed by mannered diplomat.
diplomat has been struck down.

How about filling a pit with dwarf shits and throwing inside some goblins? XD

I like the sewers idea, and the fertilizer one too.

DF Suggestions / Goblin Camps
« on: September 23, 2008, 01:28:35 pm »
Hi, im almost new here in the forum, but i have been playing DF for a long time from now. It would be nice if some goblin siegers, or another races when the army arc is implemented, bring with them supplies to build a camp outside your fortress.

Here they will gather food, build small huts for their troops, siege engines, weapons (if they can manage to build a forge), and even small fortifications made with wood of a nearby forest to prevent counter attacks.

This way they could wait for reinforcements before launching an attack, or have a nice place to run when one of their attacks fail, until more troops arrive. Imagine a goblin camp with 100-200 individuals, preparing weapons, playing with their wargs, building a hut for their commander, having weird moods... before they completely devastate your fortress.

The player could try to destroy their camp when the gobs are constructing it, use it as an outpost if he kills all the siegers, or recover resources after a battle, and later burning it to the ground. This could even be useful if certain civilization somehow conquest yours, and the enemy empire decide to put a military garrison in every fortress or village of your realm. The perfect situation for starting a braveheart-style revolution and recover the territories that once were yours and becoming the king if you success (adventure mode).

Excuse my english, im sure iīve commited  a few mistakes, but im spanish. Thanks for reading!!!!

DF Suggestions / Re: Civilian armour wearing
« on: June 05, 2008, 01:32:00 pm »
Non-warrior characters would not wear armor in peace times. At least no more than leather gauntlets, caps/hats and things like that. Itīs better for the realism of the game.

I dont like to see a woodcutter, a farmer, a cook or a fisherdwarf doing his work wearing a full polished and engraved set of mithril armor forged by the local legendary blacksmith. Itīs a bit ridiculous.
