I fail entirely to see how my graph is "biased," in recent history it's correct.

It's possible to be totally correct and totally biased (or misleading in other ways) at the same time. It's the difference between telling the truth and telling the whole truth.

The whole truth involves a significant shift in party ideology though, so recent history would be a better judge of how the parties operate today. You don't get Lincolns or even Eisenhowers anymore.

@Phantom: RIOTS have the following weaponry.

Quote
Mounted Autogun w/ Pacifier Rounds
Facing Front, Left
120m, S/3/10, Dam 1d10 Fatigue, Pen 0, Clip 120, Reload 2 Full, Storm)

All armor is twice as effective vs. Pacifier Rounds.

Mounted Autogun (Normal Bullets)
Facing Front, Left
120m, S/3/10, Dam 2d10+1 I, Pen 3, Clip 120, Reload 2 Full, Storm)

Mounted Scattershot
Facing Front, Right
40m, S/-/, Dam 1d10+5 I, Pen 1, Clip 6, Reload 1 Full, Scatter)

All of your requests would be available on the station, although somewhat expensive for all of it. Sentinel (with choice of standard weaponry) would cost 12w to max acquisition chance, the weapon mods would be 3w each (although if you purchased the parts and armourer'd them you could work a deal for 3w total), the Lathe jump pack would be 6w and the squad I'm not sure about right now. Since this is the Lathe system the rarity acquisition modifiers for each would be +20 for the new Sentinel, +30 for the weapon mods, and +0 for the jump pack.

@Yoink: We're still on station.

@Glowcat: Gingrich is from Georgia, not South Carolina. It's right next-door, but it is a distinction.

Darn. 18 hours awake and poor memory tends to blur information together.

I suppose it's not entirely unexpected that he'd do well in his home state where he'd put his hopes since at least Iowa.

There's a difference between changing one's mind and reaching levels of political opportunism which cause you to say something contrary to a previous stance the very next day. Romney has reached the point where it's impossible to know what he'd actually do because he only says what he thinks will get him elected. He not only looks like the stereotypical politician but he acts like it on steroids.

General Discussion / Re: The Scottish Independence Referendum
« on: January 16, 2012, 07:56:26 pm »
Maybe it's odd for me to say so as an (US) American, but I'm highly cynical of separatist movements, especially those based on nationalistic fervor. Whenever I hear the claim that independence would mean acquiring the right for a people to rule themselves I see the implicit "and by people, I mean the new government." Certainly if the current leadership is bad enough then independence might be a legitimate approach after other attempts to reform it fail, but the call to divide ourselves based on ancient culture groups because of some need to make it our identity? If we honestly believed that sovereignty was a good thing then we'd ignore the arbitrary lines between nations, cities, and even homes to let everybody "rule themselves", but then we'd return to a state of anarchy. These principles do not hold true without numerous and nebulous exceptions. Even if the majority of Scottish-identified people decide they want to leave the UK they're forcing their separation on those who don't want to change countries or find a new home, thus the call to independence itself is an imposition onto others within the potential new nation's boundaries.

For a related example, see any discussion about State vs. Federal rights.

I'm not familiar with all the details of why this proposal was made, so it's possible that there's a good reason that isn't simply an appeal to nationalism, but I figure it's an opportunity to discuss the call for independence in a general sense as well as the particular case of Scotland.

Hadn't heard of that one before, it looks just as ridiculous. Hrmph.

Question: IIRC, there are certain events which are referred to in court records around here as 'acts of God'. Is that actually the legal term?

From what I recall out of a highschool law course, yes.

We stopped early after killing (most of) those orks and Skive making a new "friend." I drew up a quick map in GIMP and we're going to attempt a full Map Tools battle for the showdown between ya'll and the Kommando's warband.

Unless we're losing more than NewsMuffin this session, I think so. I've still got to get this map finished quickly though, and I probably won't be operating at peak capacity since my brain has decided on its own that I shouldn't sleep more than 4 hours, while giving me a headache for not sleeping enough. Bloody mixed messages.

"Fringe" indicates being really small and/or isolated more than just at the end of the spectrum, and I've seen you Americans here talk about the commies as one of the parties that would stand a chance to get into the... House-thing (I forget the name of your reichstag, it's really early) if the system were less two-party centric.

Also, what's with the attitude?

As has been said, "Commie" is a smear used by the right-wing in this country to refer to Democrats or other centerish left groups. The Communist Party itself is rather irrelevant. More so than even other 3rd Parties.

Whenever I see a movie or TV show where something similar is tried I think: "Really? It's that easy?"

Apparently it is.

GUI Modding for Skyrim is only getting better.

SkyUI for example. I find the game itself lacking long-term appeal but the modding potential so far makes me giddy.

Yeah, game is tonight/today shortly. Might not last too long compared to our usual session span but I want to get back into the feel of GMing it at least.

As for players, I'm not sure I can handle any more right now. I'll have to judge today's turnout. Our action economy is already spread out a bit much, going by previous games.

EDIT: Well, the game would be today if anybody besides Taricus and Phantom showed up. I sorta expected difficulty in restarting though, especially given my procrastination when posting the end of hiatus announcement.
