I kind of realized something...

I've seen a lot of fiction on half-angel half-demon things...

But what that almost ALWAYS amounts to is just some angsty child/teen/adult rather than someone who is legitimately torn because of their genes.

In fact... it is rare that fiction actually pulls it off in other forms as well. Belana Torres from Voyager for example, just felt like a rather violent woman rather then her "Klingon" genes seemed to drive her to violence.

Yes, but for a variety of reasons, voyager was also terribly written.  ALL of the characters delved into tropes relativity quick.

I was unaware that you make glass items directly from bags of sand.

So one of my forts has a mountain of useless raw green glass as gems, when I thought I was stockpiling glass resources T_T
you can decoraye with them, at least.
That fort also has the most robust agriculture, prepared food, and textile industry I've ever created T_T Decorated items are worthless when I can dump 60,000 wealth in prepared food on the trade caravans without breaking a sweat.
decorate furniture for your dwarves.

Just saw a news report about how people were flying a flag from an airplane that had a swastika saying "Swastika = peace = love", and how people were disgusted at the symbol.

It is a buddist symbol of peace and love.

Gods fighting each other and the world flooded with water? Sounds like Tuesday.

WWUD if the haulers unionized and demanded breaks, fair wages, safety inspections and the removal of minecart rollercosters?
Fire the magma cannons! Into the dining hall!

WWUD if he found a problem magma couldn't solve?

Steel armor.  In a different fort, it was a steel sword.

Year 4. Population 20

Both the male and female moleweasels are asexual. Not a single litter. My one tuskox bull prefers other bulls.

No marriages. No children. Only two dwarves are lovers.

This is the longest I've kept a low population. My fps averages 150. Normally it's down to 50 by this time, but I usually have 80+ dwarves by then. I think most of the extra bodies were needed to continuously make clothes and drinks for that many. Stuff is getting done at population 20.

I may have discovered dwarftopia. It even has undead keas.

Edit: half of the dwarves are over 80 years old. Youngest is 57. I appear to have started a retirement community.

That's preposterous. Dwarven retirement consists of maulings, magma, drowning, elves, other dwarves, wildlife, undead, poisonings, infections, lengthy hospital stays followed by FURTHER maulings, starvation, dying of thirst, booze explosions, long falls, ghosts, fire, superbeasts, elephants, sponges, carp,  and forgotten beast secretions.  And stabbings! Don't forget the stabbings!

WTF?

What is this, I dont even-- on so many levels.

1) Countries STILL DO THIS? I thought dolphins and other cetaceans were protected species!
2) So, Russia now owns the Ukranian Navy? (Right, totally not an invasion-- Putin says so!)
3) The telegraph? Really? (well, at least it wasnt Daily Mail.)

RE: WTF Valve, E3, Lego

Yes. That has to be the worst Lego crossover shameless commercialism I have ever seen. I mean, WTF is gandalf even DOING at aperature science anyway?

the protection list is for each country to use as they will.

I'm sure you mean Bethesda.

Also, Live Another Life mod for Skyrim is flavorful way to skip Helgen.
i was referring to half life. Skryim can show off its engine by letting the player roam around. You couldnt do that with a shooter like that.

Make sure to download Skyrim Unbound, it completely removes the pointless and boring prison-wagon ride (and the Helgen sequence) from the beginning of the game.

That stupid wagon ride was by far the single biggest flaw of the game. (The portion of the Helgen scene after you gain full control of your character is actually semi-worthwhile, but if losing it is the price to pay to remove the wagon scene it is still a massive gain in terms of game quality)

EDIT:
This goes double for people who have never played the game before. Best not to ever encounter that scene at all. It's completely worthless like the tram ride at the beginning of Half-Life

Except the tram ride was made exclusivly to show off yhe fancy new game engine that valve had JUST made. They could load it up for future investors and say "this is what vavle the company can do. It wasnt so necessary for skyrim.

Wait, your vermin corpses produce miasma ? Are you playing 40d ?

They stopped doing that?  What version? I thought I was just getting better at making sure I had spare corpse haulers, and I always made sure to have an atom-smasher dump to take care of them before the miasma hit.

When I started playing, I was pretty well-prepared, having watched youtube tutorials and having looked stuff up in the wiki. Therefore, my first proper fortress ran rather smooth, although it had a lot of idlers. Then I accidentally disabled cancellation announcements. Then I ran out of barrels. Then of booze. By the time I had fixed the problem, four people had already died of thirst.
Then, uh, tantrum spiral. When it died down, I had gone from about 150 dwarves to 20 and my militia commander had gained a title from killing the berserk dwarves. The fortress only survived because I had set everyone who was not insane to making coffins. Also a bunch of migrants arrived.
Everything was full of blood and discarded clothes belonging to dead people were lying around everywhere.
Sadly, I don't have the save anymore.

Doors are also useful in locking tantrumming dwarves in their room (or their workshop or whatever) until they cool down.

I don't recall them ever doing that, and I started with .31.04

Death. They calm down through death.

Nope. With the overhauls, siege equipment is no longer as weffective.
