DF Gameplay Questions / Re: F**king Stockpiles
« on: July 12, 2010, 11:01:25 am »
Doesnt that happen when you set a bar/block pile, but dont set the options properly before you unpause the first time?

Because if you just create the pile and then set the more defined options using <q> chances are the game went on for a tick or two and all those hauling jobs have already been created. So you have to wait til that's done and THEN the dwarves will notice that they didnt exactly do what you planned.

If that's the case, I guess you cant really blame them. I'm no programmer, but I figure if they checked all the time if their destination pile has changed, FPS would be a lot worse....

Well, as I said, it's your own goddamn fault not carrying around an electrone microscope when you go shopping! Shame on you!

I completely understand the level of being pissed by the OP. _IF_ its really true, and I have a little bit of a hard time believing that. There's probably some fine print, and if he brought an electrone microscope, like every responsible shopper these days, he probably wouldnt have fallen for it.

What pisses _me_ off, personally, is the sheeple attitude when it comes to steam. It seems there is almost no grey area, people love it or hate it. And nobody seems to notice steam what it really is: intrusive annoying and insulting DRM with lots and lots of convenience.

Is it THAT hard to see both?

On the other hand... if steam really is THAT convenient... why wouldnt valve be so nice and untie all our games from steam. You know, give us the much promoted convenience without actually getting on our nerves with all the hoops we have to jump through.

For instance... What if I own a theoretical game, let's called it... Pocket Snooker. I really like Pocket Snooker, so I bought it on Steam, because it was so cheap. My friends and I, we enjoy playing Pocket Snooker together. A lot. But with patch 2.3 they really really nerfed ball slip. My friends and I totally prefer the sweaty ball feel of 2.2.

But we bought it on steam and so we're fucked, we cannot choose which version to play.

In all fairness, if enough people complain about this phenomenon, valve will probably do something about it (Probably)... but why? because they want to, like everybody else, shove their DRM down our throats.

At least they give us some whipped cream with a cherry on top to go along with all the forced deepthroating.

Well, I'm also all for finishing our little campaign, but I'd rather wait til autumn/winter strikes. You know, I try to squeeze every little bit of life out of the summer months. That reminds me, I need to get drunk and get laid at least 5 times today, and it's already 4pm. I'm on a freaking tight schedule here!

On a more serious note, I'm gonna PM you my mail adress, which I frequently use.

Oh, and, just to be sure so nobody misses it:
Friends don't let friends think about hats.

635
Have you ever facepalmed over a bunch of girls talking about their shoe collection?

637
Whenever I hear people talk about hats in tf2 I wonder what the effin eff is up with them. I mean naxza for instance.
I spent hours with this guy playing Neverwinter Nights, and I'd estimate he's a nice and intelligent person.

And then he lowers himself to talking about tf2 hats.

It's now more important than ever to know THIS. Dont give in, folks!

I'm pretty sure those mini-sentries are just ... a part of the Frontier Justice.

Your opponents can choose: leave the small sentry or get some crit shots right up their face.

At least I think that's how it's supposed to work.

So what do you like to see in games?
Sad times in which a thread can go on as long as this without anybody making a single boobies joke.

I weep for mankind.

643
Well, looks like the gunboats...

*Puts on sunglasses*

Just got the boot.

*Puts on "The Who"*

Oh well, I mean it's a very uneducated solution, but I don't know any better, either, so I suggest you try it.

Reinstall steam, I mean.

But seriously, you should probably delete all local content, too. I don't know if it'll make any difference, I dont know whether it makes more sense to

.)uninstall steam and then delete all associated folders
or
.)delete all local content via steam, then uninstall steam and then delete all associated folders.

On the other hand, somewhere from the back of my head I seem to recall something about some cache file... wasnt there something... but I guess steam support would have told you...

645
And non steam online games dont give you that crap?
