DF Modding / Chinese Dwarf Fortress (Hanyu Idza'de Cheng-Bao)

I've been thinking about making a Chinese mod for Dwarf Fortress.  Has this been done yet?
For me, this is partly so I can practice my Chinese skills; I'm a Chinese Conversationalist, but barely a Novice Chinese Record Keeper.

I'm a complete newb at modding, unfortunately; I think the most modding I ever did was to make sandy loam a sand.

I was thinking, the main thing would be to replace most of the Creature and Item symbols with equivalent Chinese Characters.
Is changing the commands and displayed information possible?

How should I start this?  Reading the modding guide on the wiki, I'm guessing I should try to make a graphics set of Chinese characters to replace the ASCII characters.

Does this sound like a feasible process?
Any hints, tips, and constructive (or humourous) feedback would be appreciated.

Maybe use lots of grates and floor bars to really give it a swampy feel, that you can look down and see the water?

You know, you might still be able to work magma in there somehow.  Maybe cover the magma with water, get an obsidian layer, and then flood over that, so you have a geothermally heated swamp.

Hell, forget the swamp, build Dwarven Hot Springs.  I think that's going to be my next megaproject.

I get loads of cloth, wood, leather, and a few berries, here and there.
So far, the elves don't seem too bad.  No demands, little conversation; they show up, trade their goods for our knicknacks/goblin loot, and leave.  Reliable repeat customers.

So, they'll be sparring/swimming, and increasing both Swimming, Wrestling, Armor User, Shield User, and whatever weapon skill, and attribute boosting at the same time?  And they'll be tiring out faster, so presumably they won't have training accidents as often?
Sounds sweet.

Or, I could also designate it as a water source, that way they don't have to leave...wait, forget waterskins, can on duty Dwarves on patrol just drink out of the water they're walking in?

I don't know, for some reason I was thinking about the original question as the Dwarves and such having souls, not just in the generated world.
Which might make shutting down Dwarf Fortress or deleting get you tried at the Hague.

I've yet to torture or kill my Dwarves, except by accident or incompetence, but I must admit a sinister urge to engineer a massive 200+ Dwarf tantrum spiral.

I just got this hilarious idea of the Dwarves rebooting/updating as you changed the raws.
The elves are just standing around confused, as the dwarves shudder and drool while EAT_SAPIENT_OTHER UNTHINKABLE is changed to EAT_SAPIENT_OTHER ACCEPTABLE...

I hope this isn't Modern Crossbows your speaking of. We already established that Modern Crossbows are advanced enough to quite litterally be considered Armor Peircing.
It is, unfortunately.  I just happen to think that one is cool.  And it seems to have to properties of a Dwarf Fortress crossbow.

Does anyone know how long it takes to wind up an old fashioned crossbow with a winch?  I hear long, but I don't know how long.
And the Dwarves seem to have figured out a way to do it faster.  Or they just use a goatsfoot.

Then again, walking all the way to the enemy can take most of a day, so I think it might be a case of Dwarven dimensional uncertainty.
