I've currently got half a dozen of tame rhesus monkeys.  I'm thinking of modding, so they can fly.  If I do I'll make them trainable for war... and change their color to purple.

There were quite a few Monkeysploitation films... Any Which Way but Loose(Clint Eastwood+an orangotang) and I think it had a sequal. Planet of the Apes, and then theres Gorrillas in the Mist which is about Monkeysploitation.

So I randomly caught 7 Rhesus Macaque (sp?) in some cage traps... Wanting to have the cages back, I tamed them and started butchering them.

Unfortunately a Miller, soon to be Wrestler, adopted 3 of the screeching poo flingers.  Part of me would dearly love to see my fortress be over run by monkeys, but I'm thinking of modding them, so I can make them War Monkeys. :D

I'm building also large arch, so I could make a bunch of small bridges and station the monkeys on the bridges in the arch.  Then when a goblin invader steps on the pressure plate it would retract the bridge directly overhead, and dump a monkey on it. from 5-6 z-levels. probably won't do much more than stun the goblin and the monkey, but that should be enough for my military to rush in and finish the invaders off.

Actually Gnollism.

Also anyone else notice that the root in Gnoll is gno, as in gnosis(knowledge)?  Apparently she knew about something.  Not exactly sure what but it probably had something to do with having 24 kids. Might have also had something to do with having 6 or 8 nipples.

I generally give my dwarfs 3x3 rooms and smooth them out and give them stuff if they go legendary on me...  I think start including coffins as room decoration.

Actually a good set of steel armor can stop a bullet.  They used to shoot armor, and the armor that survived was left only with a dent.  The dent was refered to as a proof mark.

I've seen chainmail get absolutely chunked by arrows.

I have recently set up an automated goblin mincing machine. Two stonefall traps, flanking a weapon trap with two serrated copper blades, a giant copper axe blade, a spiked copper ball, and a menacing copper spike.
This is just by a one-tile corridor, with a pair of doors keeping a cow on a rope inside for bait.
In the room is a cage, set up to a lever outside. Cage contains POWs.

Pull lever, fiddle door permissions, watch the slaughter.

You ought to include a lever that will destroy/save your fortress in the room with the cow.  That way it can be like that scene in Galaxy Quest(and many other adventure films) where the hero and heroine half to time their steps and navigate the long series of traps that exist for no apparent reason. All so they can save the day/destroy the evil empire, or get a couple handfulls of kible as reward. :D

I then spent, oh, 10-15 minutes doing something else while DF processed the collapse. 90ish z-levels collapsing at once changes the words "Frames per second" to "Frames per hour" :P

And you didn't record it?  damn that would have been impressive in something close to real time.

I've always used doors in place of flood gates...

Mostly because I can set the door in place and attach the mechanism when ever I'm ready to, and not worry about blocking a dwarf in somewhere.

I always wanted to build a super tall skinny tower above a magma pipe, fill it with as much dwarves as possible then remove a "key stpne" and watch it sink at high velocities into the magma :D

An odd thing happened to me at this spot.  I just finished trading with elfs, and suddenly a group of migrants appears from the east, which is normal. Then IMMEDIATELY after a second group migrants appears from the south.

???
