General Discussion / Re: Disbelief by the Numbers

You know, I'm confused here...

When did agnosticism become skepticism?

Agnosticism = I don't agree with your interpretation of God, so I'm making my own.

Skepticism = I'll believe in your God and repent and be a good little Christian/Islam/Pastafarian if you show me proof! I'M SITTING ON THE FENCE LOLOL! (Okay, not really.)

And yeah, religion has its good points. It's when you get inherently corruptible humans involved that it sort of goes off the rails.

Heh, Wiccan. My parents are Wiccans, and I have to say it's a pretty awesome religion.

Also, neo-druids (based on the ones I've met, anyway) are a joke. I don't care who you are, you don't get to call yourself the 708th reincarnation of Arthur Pendragon. Nor his adoptive father Uther (I'm so sick of people saying Uther was Arthur's dad. If you're going to call yourself a legendary pseudo-mythological figure, at least get his relationships with other legendary pseudo-mythological figures right).

Also, I consider myself agnostic with leanings towards Wiccan and Buddhist philosophies (apparently they can coexist), and a touch of existentialism (creating meaning for yourself - it may be the work of a diety, it may not; ignoring the more ridiculous parts of existentialism, such as asserting you are a bird suddenly makes you a bird).

Heh, ironically nearly every instance of Zomg was either random or a Korean name.

Still, I was one of the first to use it, back when it was just something stupid to say instead of OMGZ. It still is, I suppose, but it was a simpler time then.

Granted, you can speak Germany. That's the only word you can say for the rest of your life.

I wish I had put a wish here.

(Not picking on your spelling, IWM, just makes it easier to corrupt)

I dual-boot Vista and Linux.

I spend more time on Vista, but only because I've had it longer, and it's set up exactly the way I like it. I've still got some ways to go before my Linux installation is the way I want it, but I may still end up uising Vista once it's done, mostly because WINE isn't as compatible or as stable as I'd like.

Damn, Deon, that's some cool shit right there. I seriously wish I had your texturing skill.

Most of my textures are just Blender procedurals...

I thought he was disbarred ages ago...

Oh, wait, there were just proceedings to disbar him. Anyway, about time. Probably won't stop him, let's just hope he never figures out how to use YouTube.

Granted. People find a way to use it to reverse-engineer DF.

An open-source verson is released the next day. Toady loses all donations and hope, and kills himself. By throwing himself repeatedly off a 5-foot drop.

I wish the school holidays were here.

RAM should make the game load/save/start faster, but as for actual FPS increase, it's not going to make a huge difference.

(Our mods are is pretty easygoing, so I doubt you'd get a warning for this.)

Granted.

I wish a giant potato would crush your house.

General Discussion / Re: AIG(and WaMu) is DOWN

What's worse about this whole thing is that America seems to want to take the rest of the world down with them. They propped up AIG, an insurance group, when Lehman, a large accredited bank, was also flagging. Lehman had huge amounts of foreign investment. I'm sure you don't need to be an economics major to figure it out.

Even here in Australia we're feeling the crunch of the American collapse. Unfortuntely, our completely fucking stupid previous government refused to completely withdraw their economic investments from the American market and move them wholesale to the Asian market. If we had, we'd be somewhere up with Canada right about now. Unfortunately, America's about to crash and it looks like we might only just make it by clinging to the Asian market with two fingers.

Granted. [6] Overshoot.

You make the greatest wish ever! Unfortunately, the power required to make the wish destroys the entire universe.

Nice going, asshat.

Well, it's not as great as some of the rigs on here, but here goes:

Windows Vista Business/SuSE Linux 11.0 (dual-boot).

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
4GB 800MHz DDR2 RAM (2 separate sticks, because I'm building piecemeal at the moment)
Gigabyte 8400GS (will soon be an 8800GT of some kind; probably 1GB)
320GB SATA II hard drive
70GB IDE drive (in external caddy)

I bought it with 2GB of RAM and no OS for only AUD$625 (including postage and handling), and got a legitimate copy of Vista for free. The Linux install is because I liked SuSE 10.1, and I'm learning Lunix as part of my studies next month, so I figure it would be good to have. When I loaded up 11.0, I was absolutely gobsmacked; it's really improved significantly over 10.1. Also, Compiz rocks.

Runs Crysis beautifully at low settings, has a few issues in heavy combat at medium. Also, no overclocking, because the case fan in this makes noise at the moment, so I'm going to replace it with a 120mm on the side.

Also, anyone got some ideas of the overclocking potential on an E6600 without a considerable increase in core temp?
