Other Games / Re: Elona
« on: May 02, 2014, 09:10:06 am »
I am getting the itch to play this game again after a long time now but I'm unsure where to get the newest version. I'm guessing I want the Elona+ one, but do I need or want anything else?

Also, I've got characters since earlier (various mods and vanilla) which I'm guessing I won't be able to use and I don't really mind since I'd like a fresh start. But can I perhaps still do inheritance from them or will it screw me over? I'd like to carry over some items and the like for when I'm past the early game. Maybe it's something I will notice early in the game with any luck if that is the case.

it's fun and all but I rally dislike how the enemies stop spawning and the merchants only seem to sell a finite number of each item. I loved switching around between various equipment to keep it interesting in the first game, but now it really seems like a bad idea since the titanite shards ran out very quickly.I also can't seem to play co-op with a friend who is just a few levels (5-8 or something similar) ahead of me.
Note that the amount of stuff merchants sell increases as you progress in the game, most consumables and shards and stuff will end up being sold in infinite amounts by the end of the game.
Also, matchmaking isn't based on SL anymore, its soul memory so your friend likely has just earned more/less souls than you.
Hurrah for quick help!
Good to know things will be more available later, maybe I don't need to be as careful planning what to use it on. I still find it weird that enemie stop spawning though, not that I've had a particular problem with it yet, but I can see it happening and an open world without anyone in it would be kind of dead and boring.

So basically looking around for loot and killing some random things while the other player isn't will make you unable to play together? Keeping levels close was sometimes enough of a problem for us in the first game as I couldn't play as often. Looks like we'll either have to skip playing together or make more characters. That's really unfortunate as I was really looking forward to it.  :-\

I've been invaded 3 times in about 10 hours so far. Got sent to defend someone because of the blue covenant thing once and it ended before I got there. I have had the ring equipped for a couple of hours.

So far I've got very mixed feelings for the game, it's fun and all but I rally dislike how the enemies stop spawning and the merchants only seem to sell a finite number of each item. Isn't that already known as the current ruler of the country? And that was probably why it was introduced to begin with. Since important countries exploded when they got into trouble and the ai couldn't handle it.

I really dislike it as well though.

How has this not been posted in in 2.5 months?
I'm having trouble enjoying the game, have started 4 or so campaigns since it came out and probably haven't played it more than 10 hours or so in total. Between the vassal-feeding, monarch points and so on I don't feel like I'm having fun with it. On the other hand, I've been playing a lot of V2, HoI3, CK2 and even EU3.

Maybe I should give it another go soon.

Masterwork DF / Re: tricks of trade
« on: April 21, 2014, 08:44:40 am »
This isn't specific to Masterwork, but it's still profitable here.
I've always bought as much leather and cloth from caravans as I could, it's a simple process to turn them into light-weight fairly valuable crafts for the next caravan.
It takes a little time, like some of the other suggestions, but I find that a plus since it leaves one or two less idlers and you get a good tailor and leather crafter out of it (not to mention the ability to buy most things you want from the caravans).

It's dependent on actually getting caravans there in one piece so you can trade with them though.

Other Games / Re: Should I play Metroid Prime?
« on: April 20, 2014, 03:52:50 am »
I haven't played many metroid games but another game you might enjoy would be La Mulana from the looks of it. There's a remake version which offers a lot of improvements, but while it's not particularly expensive it isn't free like the original one was.

If there's an overriding theme of Dominions, it's that the Pantokrator is always a huge dick.

I may have seen some story events, but I don't think so. The only dramatic new events I've seen were the ones from claiming the Throne of Bones, and while that was dramatic and disruptive, I thought I saw a list from RandomEvents on the forums that that wasn't on.
It was probably this post. It lists the story events so spoiler alert I guess (though it doesn't tell what they do).

Holy carp is real!

Excited about the update though the Caelum parts might have been pushed back a bit.

Enjoyed the game, but it becomes a bit tedious after a while as you have normally won as soon as you're not losing ground. But you still have to spend those 10-30 minutes of slowly cleaning up the map. The campaign does offer some unique challenges and maps with a lot of variation though, which was nice.

Based on the names, Maharishi and Raksharani should be a great guru and a raksha queen. As for "Caelum gods", yeah, no idea. Presumably something Zoroastern. But the next patch looks like Caelum is getting a serious massaging, so it should be interesting.
Yeah, the new India based pretenders are kind of straight forward. Not sure what "Caelum gods", "Caelum Pretenders" or "Some pretenders" refers to in the notes though.

Devlog mentions new pretenders for the next update if I understand it right, not sure exactly what they are though.

There's a lot of improvements, changes and additions to various mechanics all over the game but the basics is still pretty much the same. However they're also continuing to update Dom4 as opposed to Dom3 which is done. If you can get it on sale especially I'd say it's definitely worth it if you enjoy the game.

My best vehicle right now is a shopping cart with pedals and controls. :y
I'm using one of those as well, haven't actually cared about the vehicles before but everything just went from great to all kinds of awesome.
