Bio:
"... I'm sure they feel it. The sunken depths. The deep forests. The scorching forges. The ground we walk through, and the weapons we wield."
"The Ten Divines feel the chains that lay on their people. Their cracks."
"How close we are to breaking."
Roland Hamagawa's father was one of the merchants that took Izumo as a home of his own, allured by the riches caused by the trade of powder and many of the innovative designs home to Avropa. Having fallen for one of the Aomino Shrine's ascetics, their bond grew as he gave support to many youkai hunters, his implication and dedication towards bettering Horai through his own means winning a space on her heart.
Roland was born under an ill omen, one of misfortune by what the stars and his birth spoke to the couple. "He shall not brandish the wounds of the far east." They knew that one day he would leave to make a fight of his own - to play his part on the faint threads of life. Fear befell the couple, and fear taught him. From his father, knowledge of the trade. The eye to appraise value, and the hands to keep it safe. From his mother, knowledge of Mahou. The ear to listen to the Ten Divines - to the land, the city, and its many voices, and the mouth to communicate its omens.
A rigorous youth builds a stoic man despite his foreseen misfortune, his attention directed towards the many voices, mostly dissonant. Yet they all agree on something.
"I must go to Mount Kaikuma."
With his farewell bid, Roland sails from Izumo towards the mainland, his keepsakes being his durable armor - light-fitted, crafted in resemblance to Avropian knights, and his mother's book of divination practices - so he may always be prepared against the ill omens heading his way.
And thus, Roland made light work of his travel, where a chance encounter with a caravan stationed in the Mizuno Pharmacy, en-route to the Sangonomiya Shrine would be what his fortune - the voices - led him towards.
