I do not want officers that require training to know that one does not needlessly punch people in the head.

So I've got a great idea for a story to start writing, but I'm really hung up on what to name these people... This is a typical problem for me.Write the story with placeholders and fill in the names when they come to you.
*sigh*
Feelings of fear are not always rational, especially those that you get after a traumatic experience.Ever since I was beaten up by people I thought were my friends in elementary school for saying maybe, I feel like I can't trust anyone and that anyone that I try to befriend only stay with me for a couple months before never speaking with me ever again. The trust thing strikes me as a little weird... Are you saying you're worried people are going to beat the crap out of you if you become their friends? Because that kind of thing is rather rare... and prosecutable outside of elementary school.
I'm fine with the concept of tit-for-tat, reciprocal altruism. That's just another aspect of the social contract. I hold door open for you, you hold door open for me, everybody get through door in timely manner.I have doubts that anyone calculates the benefits of helping others before deciding to be altruistic. Yes, being altruistic has benefits, but that does not mean that everyone has those in mind when they do it. I don’t.
If you analyse every single "selfless" act in enough depth you'll find a reason for them to act as a result of self-interest, or at least genetic interest. The closest you get to exceptions tend to involve extreme brainwashing, such as military service.
Selflessness is a cute little lie we tell ourselves and society, I've seen no support for it. And I don't think it somehow dampens or darkness a single damn thing anybody has done.
The western world has it's own version of moe anthropomorphism.Rule 85 is clearly invalid. I exist, and there is yet no pony version of me.
It's called Rule 85.

Yay for celebrating the adoption of your bill of rights by launching a campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Irish! Although to be fair the US celebrated the bill of rights by launching such a campaign against the Indians. No, it is the law of the Conservation of Evil.
... Is there some sort of god of human rights that demands blood sacrifice whenever you seal a contract?
