I seriously adore the new brawler. They fixed it up in...the last major version, I think? With a few smaller patches and the expansion since then. To date, it's my only actual win. Madame Fisticuffs II wrecked some serious shit. Grappling lets you ruin spellcasters, even as a halfling, and takedown (I think it's called?) lets you suplex entire rooms.

I mean that literally. Use it on a grappled enemy and you AoE for wonderful damage.

There's also the fact that all of their talents feel and work together so well. Setting up combos has a fun rhythm to it, not to mention it lets you move around while breaking faces.

Getting the game on Steam doesn't actually earn you any coins, unfortunately. :( The balance goes to unlocking donator benefits.

Doesn't the expansion also add some artifacts and such? Ditto lore, though that might matter less to people.

Spoiler: Pull the lever, Kronk! (click to show/hide)

So, dwarves make pretty good min/maxy doombringers. You get access to reknor, deep bellow and the new starter, and all the normals. Loot shower ahoy!

And here I was just lamenting how embarrassingly squished my elf was...does anyone know what the "play a doombringer as one of these races!" pop-up is about? Stonewardens are the only mechanically restricted races, and it doesn't seem like doombringer should be a lore-restricted one. (Yeek doombringer is too hilarious a concept for words. I am not a good enough player to pull it off.)

EDIT: Y'know, I just remembered how burnt out I got on dwarves the last time I played. There's something so repetitive about Reknor, it makes you wonder why it doesn't have any sort of Alt layout.

With the crystals and all, it'd be really funny if Mega Steelix were steel/fairy.

I had no idea that pulpy version names were something I needed in my life. Yet here we are.

well that AND this is "Terraria in Space" given that the three armor sets are for Ranged, Melee, and Magic.

While I guess I can't say they aren't just copying Terraria, it's not like Terraria was the first one to use that set-up? Like, I'm still super unimpressed with Starbound's balance and pacing right now. I'll give the update a chance, see if they rebalanced things well, and then decide how much I should resent their game design chops.

Can you name another game that did that set up?

Their implementations are a lot alike, with the class = armor thing. And I can't think of another game doing that exact mechanic. But I was thinking in terms of the three classes being melee, magic, and ranged, which has basically been classic since first edition D&D.

Evolved pokemon introduced in Gen IV, whose pre-evolutions were introduced in Gen II.
  • Aipom -> Ambipom -- Level up knowing double hit.
  • Gligar -> Gliscor -- Level up at night holding a razor fang.
  • Murkrow -> Honchkrow -- Dusk stone.
  • Piloswine -> Mamoswine -- Level up knowing ancient power.
  • Misdreavus -> Mismagius -- Dusk stone.
  • Porygon2 -> Porygon-Z -- Trade with dubious disc.
  • Sneasel -> Weavile -- Level up at night holding a razor claw.
  • Togetic -> Togekiss -- Shiny stone.
  • Yanma -> Yanmega -- Level up knowing ancient power.

Of these, the only one exclusive to Pokemon White is Misdreavus/Mismagius. I'll admit to sometimes forgetting they exist, and I guess they're usually pretty uncommon in-game.

Talk about special events got me hopeful for something really unusual, though. :c (Which is why I stuck how they evolve in the list, like a chump)

Yeah, the wiki notes them as harvesting and replanting wheat, with no note about any of the other crops. I guess it could be more work to have them take care to replant the right crops and not accidentally drive one of them to extinction. In any case, nothing about them planting things that aren't already present.

Shame, I had wanted to try it at some point but was always too put off by stories of the game's horrendous lag. I guess I missed my one opportunity to try it in a playable state.

Here's hoping that something else just as ambitious comes along eventually.

My thoughts exactly.

The thread title takes on a whole new meaning now, huh?

Also, testing shows that the"center of mass" is the pilot seat...

That doesn't seem right at all. I know I've had to add helium to one of my designs because the front was way too heavy compared to the back and it kept dragging on the ground.

Just tested with a 10-long rod with a pilot seat at one end (15 kg) and a weighted cube at the other (15 kg). Lift was provided by three T2 jets at either end, though unless different movement blocks calculate center of mass in different ways that shouldn't matter. If center of mass is calculated traditionally, it should be in the exact center of the rod and the robot would rise straight up. If center of mass is instead set as being the pilot seat (to simplify calculations as the robot is destroyed, or whatever other reason) then three engines worth of thrust should be acting on a significant lever arm and the robot should rotate around the pilot seat.

The craft moved straight upwards, supporting the theory that center of mass is calculated traditionally.

EDIT: Furthermore, weight even slightly out of balance with the expected center of mass (on either side of the fourth of ten cubes) leads to a dramatic turn around the pilot seat. I'd check this with hoverblades or something, but it turns out I never played this often enough to get out of tier two, so my hoverblades no longer exist. Sad day.

I've finally layed my hands on 3.5 Player's Handbook

Well everyone should bear in mind the rules can be all sorts of different, 90% of basic D&D 3.5 is under the open gaming license, so you can freely post it online. Like so: d20 SRD.

Cool. Maybe in another couple of years we'll be able to rebind keys from ingame as well.

That's for the Game of the Year edition.
Game of the Years, more like.

Which years, that's what I'm asking.

Due to a time-travel mishap, Starbound: Game of the Years Edition will only have been available from June 13, 1967 through October 31, 1919.

In thinking about the guns vs. swords thing, I still like it mechanically (pending general weapon balance, etc., etc.) but...does Novakids being expert gunsmiths imply that literally everyone else are expert swordsmiths?
