10 people in 5 hours. Not bad at all :)

Does it have to be a multiplayer game? Cause Ive played plenty of single player there, but I havent done any multiplayer games.

Yes, it has to be a MP game.

Well that's definitely enough people.

I can easily set one up. Everyone That wants in post your ingame name in bold in this thread. I'll start it on Friday.

Volatar wants in.

This tournament will take place on UK1 for two reasons: the majority of us seem to already play on it, and in the near future all the other servers will be merged into it anyways.

If you have not yet played a game on UK1, do so, or you will not be able to be invited. It only takes one game to show up as searchable.

Someone mentioned the idea of a Bay12 Frozen Synapse tournament. I like the sound of that. Who would be interested in participating?

Regarding the switch to everything being on one server: does anyone know if old replays, etc be carried over?

Yes.

The devs say that everyone should play on UK1, as they will be merging all of the servers together into it in the near future.

Many people like to compare it to chess with guns and procedural maps.

Was playing the campaign and barely won mission 2.2. I got SO lucky. Made a video of it it was so close.

I am now available for challenge on UK1 in addition to Texas. Just won two games in a row, a record for me. I feel like taking on the world :D

I got it in the latest Humble Bundle, and I am utterly baffled by it.  I haven't cleared the first turn of the first campaign map, because the tutorial fails to mention that after previewing the effect of your orders, the enemy dudes move too.

Anyway, I'm Aqizzar of course, on the unlikely chance that I ever start playing online.

Hitting Prime submits your turn. Hitting play or spacebar runs a simulation.

Not going to lie, kind of pissed me off how I accidentally pressed the little red button thingy at the bottom corner and it sets me up with a game. Fine, except I barely know how to play and don't WANT to face someone. So that's going to be a loss on my record just because it doesn't even tell you what the button does until you press it. And like a retard I pressed it twice. So, two instant losses.

I decided to just make another account and apparently your CD-Key has one use, so you can only make one account. Guess my friend who wanted to come over and try the game won't get to make an account for himself either.

If you don't play the first turn, after 2 weeks the games will disappear with no blight on your record.

Just buy your friend a copy through the bundle. The game is essentially free right now.

Both of you can easily purchase the game, as it is in the latest Humble Indie Bundle, which, if you are so absolutely strapped for cash, can be purchased for a measly single cent.

So I watched a video of this being played, and it looked interesting. What are peoples experiences playing it?

I, so far, have found it to be the best thing since sliced bread. It really is tons of fun. I love tactics.

Does the turn based multiplayer lead to extensive waiting?

No. You are able to see the status of the player you are playing against (working on this game, playing a different game, in the menu, offline, etc), so you have an idea how long you will wait until your next turn. Most people seem pretty prompt. Even still, I find myself much faster than others when playing (I take much less time in Chess too, a good comparable game), so I simply run 2-4 games at a time and bounce between them while waiting for the other people.

Are there grenades?

Yes. There are the following:

Shotgunners
Machinegunners
Snipers
Rocket Launcher guys
Grenediers (grenade launchers)

Is rage quitting a problem?

No. Most people seem willing to accept a loss. Even if someone decides to ragequit and not play their turn, after 2 weeks the game will automatically end with a win for the non-quitter.

So now that everyone and their little sister has this game (speaking from personal experience here), there should be a great many DF players to match up against.

My ingame name is Volatar. Feel free to issue a challenge. Bonus points if it's a mode other than extermination. I currently am very bad at this game, but can't stop playing it :)
