In what world is the mouse the most efficient interface device? You have to zip back and forth across the screen; the keyboard can have as many as 10 commands put in one after another in about a second.
Is that an honest question? Because I think the answer is pretty obvious. I give you an example: Designate an area of forest to be copped down. With keyboard: D - F - K (no idea what the actual letters are, too long since I last played), arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, arrow key, ... (I stop here because I think you got the point, but it may very well be more arrow keys..), Enter. With mouse: click D, click F, click K (no difference until here), click on ground, drag mouse, click on ground, done.
actually b-t shift left arrow shift left arrow shift down arrow shift down arrow enter.
i know some freaky shit! or i just use the help interface.
Hi!
While having said what I seriously think on the issue, there is a little random thought I want to share, which comes to mind whenever we get the graphics debate going.
I am wondering, how would people react if Toady One was actually a huge fan of really cute manga/anime for girls (like the ones by Fujida Maguro - just look at the frogs) and finally decided to incorporate graphics in the game - in exactly that style. You know, cute, big-eyed dwarves, adorable cats, dogs, horses, and even zombies that make you go "awww, how cute!" rather than anything else. I wonder how people would respond to this pink, sugary Dwarf Fortress.
Deathworks
you mean the pink sugary fortress with the weapon traps that sever heads and mangle brains and the magma falls that are used to dispose of the
cutey wooty zombies. that would be awesome and yet profoundly disturbing. good on you for mentioning it and i am so trying to mod that when i figure out how,
