I'd disagree. If you get seen, they'll almost immediately pick you for a spy, whilst if you're a demoman or pyro you'll have a bit of a grace period to get the hell out of there. Sure, you should try to avoid being seen at all but there's periods where you need to be visible and in those periods, it's better to have a disguise that won't make you stick out so badly. The slightly smaller frame isn't worth it.

As far as I can see, it'll help you get away from Pyros with the Dead Ringer just long enough that you can loudly decloak without a knife.

I'd change the title but it'd be a bit rude to suddenly create a Total War megathread when there's already a Shogun 2 thread. But yeah, it's a Total War discussion thread that just started by focusing on Medieval 2.

Finally, finally got the Cow Mangler 3000. And it's been so long since it first came out people have apparently forgotten how to deal with it because I am getting kill after kill.

I'm a Melbournian, but I'm 16 and I think that joining you in doing this would probably qualify you for child abuse, willing or no. But man. Give me four years and I am so in.

So, update, because I'm waiting till dropping $150 doesn't bankrupt me. I have no idea how to go about updating a computer. If the graphics card is from the same line and same company of cards, would it be a simple matter of just popping the first one out and slotting the other in? Or is there more to it than that?

e: Oooooooh, okay, flipping through the AMD site, there's like a dozen varieties of the 6850 card. I'm thinking it might be best to bring my PC into a shop so I don't end up blowing something up.

They must be either extremely clever or very strong etherically to learn anything at all, if Red Returns is anything to go by.

I see.
Well, different views, I guess.

So, as to draw a conclusion, after being immersed for a while in the Star Wars universe, and then suddenly finding out that The Force is caused by some bacterial infection, passed on by ticks, one is supposed to feel relieved, and all the Star Wars universe should suddenly seem a lot better.

Ok.
I'm not sure that fantasy is really a good comparison here. I don't know anyone who can move stuff with their mind.

But really, if they could, and it turned out it wasn't just some magical power but something grounded in reality, that would mean there's a chance that we might be able to change it and make it so I can move stuff with my mind, which would be hella awesome. Regardless, not an apt comparison.

e: also, not sure what you mean by relieved. I don't think I ever mentioned relief being part of it. I'm not particularly relieved that the sun isn't actually Ra but is in fact a giant ball of radioactive fire, I just think it's neat.

Yeah, I don't see impersonal, cold data when I understand how something works. Love might be a chemical reaction in your brain, when you get right down to it, but that doesn't mean it's 'just a chemical reaction', it means that that's how something amazing and awesome happens. Things don't lose their majesty once we explain them. I'm not less impressed with the sun because I know it can't possibly be a God. It is, as it turns out, a giant nuclear fusion reactor that radiated enough energy to facilitate the creation of life on Earth. The fact that we can tell you how and why doesn't remove the brilliance of it, it makes the fact that it happens that much more awesome, in the 'awe inspiring' sense.

Here's what we are. We're a delicate structure of nerves, tendons, muscles, veins and a million other things. And with those things we can love, think, discover, learn and change ourselves and the world around us. Just because we know how doesn't somehow cheapen that. You can't call it magic, because it's not, but it doesn't change or become lesser just because we aren't ignorant any more. We can still love, laugh, cry and wonder, that's still all there. And even if we know why we do those things, that doesn't make it any less brilliant. I can Goddamn love somebody. It's not magic. My body has the power to cause something as beautiful as love.

We're just that fucking rad.

Oh wow, I can actually contribute to a thread and not feel like I'm talking out my ass!

I'd say that homosexuality probably has a grounding in a person's genes but is very strongly influenced by the influence of society, family, ect. You could easily have people who find men attractive but vigorously deny that they do. I know at least one person like that, and he never considered for a minute that he could be anything other than straight because he was raised in a conservative Christian family.

In my case I think it probably started with genetics, in that I am attracted to features of both sexes and probably would be even if I decided to ignore it and 'be straight' and that all got jumbled by the onset of puberty and the fact that I've never seen homosexuality as something wrong because both my parents drilled the fact that they're just people very hard into my skull from the minute I knew that homosexuality was a thing. Also it probably has something to do with the fact that I am very much a  'middle ground' sort of person and I hate having to choose.

So really, I think that people probably have a genetic predisposition towards what sex they find attractive (and I've heard a lot of people take kaijyuu's position and consider themselves straight but don't deny that they've found at least one person of the same sex attractive at one point) and sometimes that predisposition is so strong they can't ignore it, but at the end of the day it comes down to the choice to act on those feelings, a choice that is heavily influenced by factors like society, friends and family. So it could be mainly genetic, if that predisposition (which is a word I love and will use till it wears out and loses all meaning) is strong enough, which would lead somebody to believe they never had a choice, they were born this way, or it could be just somebody embracing their attraction to certain people of the same sex, which would mean they'd assume they did have a choice. Homosexuals (and bisexauls and pansexuals ect ect) are people, and people are a pretty diverse lot.

So this is one thing I really think homosexuals need to clarify within their own community, to the rest of the world.
And that's why I don't think they can. There isn't one definitive cause for homosexuality, or at least I seriously doubt there is and I don't think the community would ever be able to take a unified stand on the issue without alienating a lot of people.

One slightly off topic thing I wanted to ask, because I feel bad about it. Does anyone else find flamboyant homosexuals really, really annoying? I know it's awful of me and unfair on them but holy crap they annoy the hell out of me. Does anyone else (who is, you know, gay, bi, ect.) feel like that? Because I don't want to be both into dudes and homophobic.

I can't help but feel that Mike overreacted a bit here but not enough that I actually care. Guy got what was coming to him, more or less, and I don't like the way he tried to use his family as a get-out-of-shitstorm free card. Or at least that's how it struck me.

Yeah, I never hit that problem in Gunnerkrigg but the Homestuck comparison is apt. I'm up to the part where each page is a collection of different panels for snippets of the story apparently spread up to five hundred pages in the future or some shit and it just completely killed the pace and interest for me, I have yet to go back.

I've been accepted into Fitocracy! Now to exercise the shit out of my various bodyparts.

This all sounds great, too bad I can't even run Empire on my computer. I need to get a copy of Rome but there's only one second hand game store near me and they only sell stuff for consoles.
Give a try to the shogun 2 demo. It is vastly improved from empire performance wise.
This is very true. My computer can run Shogun 2 acceptably on Ultra (minus shaders) and runs like molasses on medium with Empire. The art direction of the series changed rather a lot between Empire and Napoleon (which I can also run quite well), and I think that probably has a lot to do with it.
