Curses / LCS - Now available on Android?
« on: June 13, 2013, 09:18:07 pm »
So, uh - this is a thing:o

I looked through the forums and didn't see anything about it here, but I just searched the Google Play store for it on a whim, and lo and behold, it was uploaded just last week. I'm currently testing it out on my Galaxy S3, and it seems to work pretty damn well.

Other Games / Ironfell - Free, Indie MMORTS
« on: January 16, 2013, 01:59:38 am »
Has anyone here played Ironfell?

Here's the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxcq_eiuSU8

Quote
Ironfell is a time travel themed massive multi-player online real time strategy (MMORTS) game.

You begin with a single Explorer, thrown back in time to a safe green valley surrounded by mountains. You collect resources, build technology, and create armies to conquer new lands… or simply meander around, planting flowers in picturesque mountain valleys.

The game is set in a 2D hexagon tiled universe, divided into separate realms. Each realm can be a mountain valley, a large island or even an whole ocean with many new types of realm planned for the future. This structure allows all players to be in the same universe (no shards), but for the game to be scalable, with realms hosted on separate server instances.

There are currently 64 units and buildings (Archers, Farmers, Knights, etc) in Ironfell, loosely drawn from the high middle ages period. I’ve just added a pirate ship expansion with huge oceans to explore. The next expansion will include Dinosaurs and Time Machines. Eventually there will be space stations and travel the stars. What you can play now is just the beginning.

Ironfell is completely self funded and DataSmugglers is not looking for additional investment. Ideally it will earn enough to pay David’s rent and for an occasional lunch at the pub. The exact business model is yet to be decided, but you can read David’s thoughts on “free to play” and other income options here.

Ironfell is now live and you can try it for yourself right now:

I happened to stumble upon a launch announcement of Ironfell today, and from what I've seen it looks like something that some of us here on the Bay12 forums would like to play together. Has anyone messed around with it or have any knowledge of it?

Maybe we can get a B12 alliance up and running in a realm or two?

Alright, is anyone else planning on signing up for the Alpha?

It looks like they're looking for groups to sign up under "team names," so I figured we could be team "Bay12" .  We'll also need a team leader.

Anyone else? Here's the link: http://www.2kgames.com/civworld/alpha/

UPDATE
Alright, I'll do the captainy stuff (most likely with a lot of asking you guys what to do).

So, go fill the form out: http://www.2kgames.com/civworld/alpha/

Team Name: Bay12
Team Captain's Name: Alehkhs

As noted by the post above, you're probably best off copy/pasting my name, as to not misspell it.

Play With Your Buddies / Shores of Hazeron - The Armok Coalition
« on: July 30, 2010, 10:19:10 am »
This thread will contain the political ongoings of The Armok Coalition, comprised of the scattered empires of Bay12 within "Shores of Hazeron." It will be updated frequently with relevant news concerning the coalition, such as who the members are, their statuses, the state of the coalition as a whole, and any other pertinent information. The goal here is to attempt to bring some order to the Bay12 community within Shores of Hazeron; this need arises because not many players will want to form their own Empires, and while some will eventually elect to take a helpful role in one singular Empire, many will remain sovereign. The Armok Coalition brings these sovereign powers together so that they might work as one.

**If you are new to Shores of Harezon, this thread is not your introduction. You will find the appropriate help thread HERE**

Items for discussion
  • Does the Armok Coalition need its own forums and/or teamspeak server? If so, who might set those up.
  • Should we look into folding smaller Empires into each-other to become less scattered and more unified?
  • What political futures do we wish to pursue with the Coalition?

Curses / LCS Icons
« on: June 21, 2009, 12:27:27 pm »
Since LCS is a game just begging for an over-the-top desktop icon, I figured I'd ask what people use.

What desktop icon do you use for LCS?

DF Suggestions / "I remember the day..." aka War Stories
« on: July 18, 2008, 02:54:15 am »
With the upcoming work on the Army Arc, I feel this would be a good place to throw this out there: war stories

Specifically, something I imagined concerning Core 45: "Civilizations (for example, goblins or expansionist humans) should be able to declare war on each other and raise armies. They can send messengers to outlying towns or gather soldiers as they march from town to town toward their destinations"

When these "collective" armies eventually achieve their goal (or are defeated), they should disband, and the surviving warriors should return to their separate homes (perhaps this calls for a party?). These "war heroes" would undoubtedly have stories to tell, and these stories should influence items in the village they came from: engravings, statues, etc.

Also, if an army was large enough (hundreds or more), the personal histories (Legends, Adventure mode conversation) of these War Heroes should reflect what they were present for. For example: "Urist McWarrior was present at the Conflict of Knives as a soldier of the Scalon Army," makes sense, however, perhaps even historical events at these battles that were within the sight of the warrior could be mentioned, such as "Urist McWarrior witnessed the death of Goldbrand the Gallant, leader of the Scalon Army,"  or  "Urist McWarrior was present when Schulpher the Fiend, soldier of the Divine Army, defeated Goldbrand the Gallant, leader of the Scalon Army."

War stories, "I remember it as if it were yesterday..."
