i must have the mechanic!
Name: Elboogard
Profession: Astro-scientist

He developed the theory of prepetual cat motion. if you put a piece of buttered toast on a cats back butter side up, the cat and toast will spin forever because the cat cant land on its feet if the butter lands butter side down and vice-versa. he will try to propel the ship in some way with this along with the beer fuel and is fascinated by this "Vox Unit" Lord Castellan is proposing.

General Discussion / Re: Zombie preparedness
« on: February 13, 2009, 05:27:29 pm »
I think zombies would be easily to beat with proper weaponry. Machine guns and the like run out of ammo so modern military weapons would be useless.

If there were around a hundred survivors kit them all out in tower shields (scavenge riot shields somewhere?) and short swords. Roman style. The Romans were especially good at fighting against massive numbers of lightly armed targets.

They would stand in a rectangle with the first row fighting. In a narrow alley in modern settings as there aren't enough fighters to cover an entire field. The enemy charged and were bashed back with the shield and then killed with the sword. Repeat. After a short while the first row would get tired and would retreat to the back and be replaced by the second row.

With some training the survivors could easily take zombie hordes. At least outnumbered 10 to 1 or more.

remember the no-slashing/stabbing rule in a zombie infected zone? replace the swords with maces and your good to go.

Name: Valious
Primary domain: Water
Alignment Domain: Indifference
Portfolio element: Fish
Symbol: an Elephant drinking water.
Alignment: Chaotic neutral
Favored weapon: Halberd
Divine Rank: DR 5
Class levels: Druid level 26

Vailous, above the two worlds

Vailous was awakened from his boredom induced slumber by two mighty spheres appearing below him. one was completely clear and he saw a creature smashing out shards of it. on the other he saw many creatures and another that looked little like them. this sphere was made of rock. Valious admitted these were quite impressive, but something seemed... wrong about them. they were all rigid and static much unlike himself. to fix this Valious poured a free flowing cool substance over them that never took any single form. he poured onto them water.

DF General Discussion / my first dwarf dream!
« on: February 07, 2009, 02:54:38 pm »
i had my first dwarf fortress related dream last night.
in it i was watching some guy play dwarf fortress with this BEAUTIFUL tile set.
i asked him what it was. i forget what he called it but the thing that made it so special was that it had animations! i watched a dwarf in a running animation run up to a bird in flapping animation and kill it with an axe strikeing animation.
it was awesome.
