Recent releases have actually improved the game hugely in all sorts of fields. Gimli, do you know what version you played last?

Pressing a legendary goblin into service as a extra-tough archery target would be exceedingly hilarious.

DF General Discussion / Re: Using DF as a topic for my class assignment

I'm not sure Dwarf Fortress will work, since You The Player are dispassionate and not personally invested in your fortress.  So your ethical decisions are pretty much inconvenience vs fun vs gaming ethics.

You might be able to get some mileage over deciding between a noble and potential risk to a productive dwarf, but that probably won't work either until penalties for noble elimination are implemented.

I love Mountainbanners, I thought nothing ever came of that canyon challenge. Nice.

A lot of forts, legendary history or not are pretty industrial and boring in look.  :(
Many otherwise awesome forts also use multiple levels of exceeding identicalness which may or may not work for you.

Fortresses centered around terrain features (Volcano Forts, Ocean Forts, Chasm Forts et. al.) and built for aesthetics over efficiency will probably make the best and most interesting dungeons.  Bottomless pits crisscrossed with bridges and entrance chambers decorated with magma waterfalls are a lot more fun to describe than generic holes in the ground. :)

DF Suggestions / Re: Glass barrels and Bins

well then you have one heavy ass bin that can't hold as much. heh.

i like the glass barrels/ no glass bin angle though.

perhaps it should be called a Tank, ala the Terrarium. metal Tanks would make sense as well...

Nobles definitely need a lot more depth, but I prefer to work with them rather than against them.

Joseph Miles has created a masterpiece!

furniture store + dwarven furniture placement is an absurdly awesome idea.

If it doesn't give you the ability to designate water than it's not fresh water.   :-\

I guess you could try setting a champion to no-armor. But I think John Johnston is right about masks.
