General Discussion / Re: What inspires you to write?

Ideas come into existence inside my mind without any prompting, and I rarely act on 10% of the stuff I think of (otherwise, the whole Universe is going to die). That probably explains why I'm extremely unreliable, I get bored of my ideas quickly, and I have many more to replace them as they grow old.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: A question about obsidian
« on: August 22, 2009, 12:35:33 am »
To your first question, the Obsidian is a natural rock wall, thus it can't even be caved in,only mined out.

Uh, you can cave in natural rock walls?

Oh wait, I was thinking of constructed walls. My bad...

They milled aimlessly across the planet, the amorphous blobs that amounted to scribbles. A man of crystal stood equidistant to the robed one, who stood at the mouth of a massive cavernous system. It made an odd spectacle, blobs of color weaving into and out of the pair. The robed man surveyed the scene with little emotion.

Gods they were, to mess with a budding world as such. He turned, looking into the foreboding mouth of the cave, knowing what lay deep inside. He felt the slight malice, the odd sense of familiarity. A game. A game they would all play, some with hidden agendas, some just for fun. He palmed the dice in his right hand, turning it over as he watched another scribble wander past him, into the cave system. Foolish. But then, what could the things be but foolish, given their creator? He turned the dice over once more, and opened his palm.

Snake eyes. He nodded. Before, his chances of winning the game had always been slight... but now...

He silently walked away from the mouth of the cave. At a reasonable distance, he turned his palm over. Before him, a forest bloomed into existence, covering the visible horizon with minute saplings. He then spread his hand outwards, and a wave of positive energy swept over the budding trees, enriching them and their land with life, and within minutes, the trees stood tall and proud, the soil black and rich.

I did that, though accidentally. As we speak, I am working on a new fortress.

Banned for even MORE horrible ban joke.

I'll join, but we need to establish the gaming medium. ASCIIDraw? RTD style? Play-by-post? Something else altogether?

The thread title would make for a great movie.

Nah, B-rated at best. I don't think audiences would be too receptive of villainous fish and over sized birds.

He's said before that he has physical backups in remote locations.

Seriously?

Though I wouldn't expect any more, given what we know of him.

To your first question, the Obsidian is a natural rock wall, thus it can't even be caved in,only mined out.

To the second, I think the magma pipes will terminate in a chasm, which the obsidian plug will fall into... but I'm not sure. Someone with more experience should know.

I can understand ants, they are genuinely creepy.

The Jack Jumper isn't so much "creepy" as it is "TERRIFYING".

"Dead"

I'm pretty sure noone here has Geniophobia.

I don't think they would bother naming it unless at least a few in the population suffer from that phobia. Or am I mistaken?
