I occasionally see axes lying around in my party rooms. I don't know what that means, if anything.
They're probably drowing them at each other in a drunken stupor while inhaling socks.

So i've got a truckload of Bone bolts, Archery targets in every direction, Dwarves armed with Xbow and quivers but they sill refuse to train archery.
They'd rather train with the crossbows in the barracks, as blunts!
Though i did see some broken bolts at one time, but never again.

Is there some obscure setting i've missed or are they just being retarded?

Assign more miners than you have picks; the "reserve miners" will take the picks from the miners that are taking breaks.
Really? Don't think they'll drop their picks just because they go for a drink.

And socks production to dwarves is like a drug lab.

I bet that dwarves uses Socks dipped in sunshine booze as dust filters while mining.

How many Z down are they working? why not simply relocate 10 barrels down there by the central shaft and then resume mining? Actually takes less time.
The lack of alcohol will cause bad thought and will make them work slower so i don't think you gain anything from this idea.

But to answer questions;
1: Mist is good, equals a great dining room.
2: Continious flow requires a drain. If you've got a chasm then your problem is solved. if not you'll need to be able to close the feedpipe so that it wont overflow.
3: No dangers except flooding... if there's not something hostile in the river that is.
4: in case of no chasm, One pump per Z level is required and you'll need to pump the water up to the same Z as the river source
5: You want to play with water? magma? weird scupltures? murials?

Not sure what quote you're talking but i do know that i use the low value gems to bejewel goods and i dont care wich, I just want to get rid of them.

Star gems is what glitters on my stuff

Not hard at all ^^

Incase you're interessted in continous production i can't help you. I tend to simply Craft huge batches that just occupy my piles, unable to trade it all away for reasonable prices.

According to wiki, the high value Gems exists in Kimberlite, Bauxite, Granite, Marble & Schist.

Basically, You're buying all the extra crap from the caravans to justify the excess of cloth you're producing?
Dont think anyone mentioned that you can bejewel the cloth.
And if you want you can use multiple gems per piece aslong as theyre different kinds of gems.

My temple under construction, Main building is carved out of the mountain and towers are constructed. All furniture is bejeweled either/and with 20+ gems, ruby, sapphire, star ruby, star sapphire. All metalwork mastercrafted and bejeweling was handeled by a legendary.

Main building - only high value gems
Large pillars and benches in steel, statues of aluminium valued 20k.
Magmapool with magmafalls, hard to see on pic though.
Roof at 6z, bottom of pool at -4z


Towers - various 20+ gem silver statues, Bridges of Platinum

It took quite some time for me. what evil plans do you have for the prisoners then?
I've got over 100 gobs in cages thats just waiting for me to use the lever.

Though i tried once. dropped from 50 fps down to 2 and it barely moved.
