DF Modding / A question about Adamantine king and Liason
« on: November 18, 2008, 07:58:57 pm »
Is there anything i can do to circumvent the loss of liason when the king arrives?
I don't mind the king but i do not want to lose the possibility to make requests from traders.

Happy Elves? And trading with them too?!
The only purpose for them is to paint our halls red!

From Armok to dwarven stupidity?
For the first time ever i just had a melacholy dwarf attempt suicide in a murky pool. Empty one that is.
So in spirit of previous posters;
"Waah! i didn't get to make my felsite crown with pig tail spikes, Farewell cruel world!"
*Thud followed by spitting sounds*

Even though the tedious work of cleaning up after the slaughter, it sounds amusing.
But i wonder what are you doing when not profiteering? =P

I think that if you 'process' a white item it's concidered yours. But doesn't white items in your keeping add to value?

Elves: Oh my gawd!  A goblin swordsman just killed the elven merchant Fluffy Snugglebunnies!  Everyone, run, run away, run home!  Flee this evil place!

Probably divided into two chastes, one Trader and the other warrior.
Warror chaste is probably canibalistic, voracious eaters of everything, bludgeoning things to death after sneaking up on them.

...Hypocrites.

Ofcourse! I intend to only leave the walkways free from magma.
And its amusing.

Playing with massive quantities of magma in my temple of Armok too.(under construction)

Also, I recently colonized a bottomless pit area so that I would have a bridge crossing the void, whereupon my enemies would march in, get shot at, and if they didn't fall off/bleed to death by then, my soldiers at the locked gate would stave them off.
Thought of doing something like that in my pure defensive fort but due to the late discovery of the pit i could not include it without my etstetic sense going on red alert.

Okay, after some more trial and error(error mostly) I've figured out that:
Opening a door with a lever and then connecting the door to a plate(water 4-7)
Add water - Door closed
Drain water - Door open

Do the same as above but set it to magma 4-7, add magma
Nothing happens.

Link plate to door, no lever
Add magma - Closed door opens
Remove magma - Open door closes

Conclusion:
I have to do reverse to my original plan with a plate 0-5 instead of 5-7. But due to plates not immideately accepting status 0 i can't get the door open to actually flood the relevant place.
Annoying oversight, good thing Tweak exist.

What are you talking about? "clean cut wounds" are rare!
The more common alternatives for death are; Mashed by a bridge; dropped in lava; drowned; struck by blunt object repeatedly; having intestines replaced with crossbow bolts; impaled, shredded, chrushed by traps or caged to be fed to a dragon.
There are more but i do belive i have made my point.

Oh, and wooden swords are still useless(exception made for skilled user) unless used as a club or for sparring, refer to boken or shinai.

Elfs being the prefered sacrifice to armork simply because they annoy him because of their previously mentioned hypocrisy.

Elfs and wooden sticks aside, is the any facts about the guy?

Although it sounds amusingly cruel, the things that can happen to the dropped ones are
a) wounded, but not a problem
b) crippled, bleeding and soon dead
c) dead

So its better to simply enclose the pit and then throw them in, there are many ways to do it using bridges, doors, hatches etc.

oh i forgot, I think that that 4z left them broken more ofthen than not

I'm more concerned how i can keep it up during extended playtime.
It's not like anything above 50 matters.

Armok likes blood, blood, blood, and blood.  Since Armok doesn't appear to be very good in the optical department, Armok can be tricked with red stone.  Armok is very indiscriminate as to where the blood comes from.  Dwarves, humans, whatever -- the only exception is that elven blood is very appealing to Armok, because elves are pansies
ELF BLOOD FOR THE ELF BLOOD GOD!

Yes, I'm working on that too. Is there any shape for an holy object or symbol?
Something that's posible to make and not the elf skull totem studded with star ruby dipped in blood.
