So, I just figured out that Elf Monks work really well, provide you can get the fireball and worship Mystera from level 1. Managed to clear the snake pit that way. Had 11 shots of firball by the level 10, nuked Medusa at level 7. :D

Armored wizard FTW!!

The First Church of Reset officialy aproves your savescum.

Also, I'm amused that once again, our troops "accidentally" killed the traitor. This needs to become a recurring theme. :D

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: How do you win Dwarf fortress?
« on: March 20, 2010, 01:16:04 pm »
I like the quote that "You win DF when your fortress blasts off for the moon."

Your fortress can blast off for the moon???

Sarchasm, Noun (Sar-Kaz-Im)
Definition: The gulf between your smartass comment, and the poor bastard that just doesn't get it.

No. You cannot make your fort blast off for the moon. Not even with magma/booze fusion engines and a kitten randomizer.

I have unlocked:
Berserker
Warlord
Monk
Sorcerer
Bloodmage

Any tips on trying to get through the thief/rogue/assassin line of classes? Not sure what race works best there, and I think I've run them all at this point.

Also, some oddness; the bloodmage claims 100% effectivity from mana pots (oh god Diablo 2 slang) but it wouldn't let me drink any. WTF?

Oh, and the spell names are amusing the hell out of me. :D

I meant extract, not install. But okay. :)

Edit: Holy shit.

Holy shit this is awesome!

I've already had my first win. As a wizard.
My second win was a fighter. Going for berserker next. This is wicked.

You know, we could just put them in a really big pot (or room) full of water, and just boil them.

The Dwarf Fortress solution.

Edit: Hey, lobstermen are basically a renewable resource, right? If they go good with a little butter and a lemon wedge, we could probably end world hunger. The edibility of lobstermen should be our next research project.

So, does this actually have a trojan or not? Since only two of the listed programs "found" it, I'm guessing not, but I want to know for sure before installing.

That should be good for now. I have more, but I'll wait a bit. Perhaps some more this evening.  :)

Go with the logical tech tree, though it makes sense to me to go ahead with the armor before the weapons research. We already know the alien alloys can take a beating, there's no reason we wouldn't incorporate it into armor.

And now I get to do my part. I'll have stuff up by sometime saturday, at the latest. End of week is super busy for me.

And it was your engraver that lived! Think of the awesome engravings you'll get now! :D

Nemo, after the captain of the Nautilus in 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Not that damn fish from the childrens movie.

As I'm reading from my phone, I can't see the pictures anyway, so I don't care about the armor.

And yes, your writing is good enough I can enjoy it without the pictures. Keep it up.

That's a good point really, and sad commentary of current publishers. Some games are really just interactive films, and more enjoyable if you didn't have to deal with the boring, repetitive interactive portions. You might as well just be watching a movie.

Hence, the LP.

I really enjoyed the Sartak Nethack LPs. I learned a lot from those, and they were bloody hilarious to boot.

Been watching the Stabby the Clown Jedi Outcast LPs. Poor bastard. 70 deaths by level 12. XD

I enjoy them because sometimes it's a game I haven't played, which let's me know if I should try it, or it's one I have, and it's just neat to know what's coming.

I'd love to see an Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 Let's Play. A lot of fun stuff in there.
