There already is one: mithril chainmail
Oh, yeah. Whoops.
I must admit to not yet having tried it: is it just a gag item, or does it actually serve a purpose?

Perhaps the idea is that most of these creatures are just bunnies or whatever that have been given an extra limb or more "bounce", or whatever. What the genetics lab needs is an additional floor (or... basement?) in which are kept those really dangerous creatures, cyborg bear-rillas et al.

Thanks for the tips, soup_alex! Unfortunately, making a pop shield will be difficult for the mic I have because I don't even have a stand, so I've been clipping it to the collar of my shirt. When I upgrade to a new mic though, I'll keep your advice in mind - sounds like a pop shield should be pretty easy to make.
And yeah, it is a mini TRS, and it is old, so it is very likely that the connectors aren't what they used to be. I'll switch to a slightly newer mic for the next few videos.
Also, if anybody has any ideas for other obscure games that deserve an LP, let me know - I'm searching for opportunities.
NP. Call me a microphone nerd :|
And you might find that with most mics larger than an lavalier/electret (I imagine that the mic you're using falls into this category), the inbuilt "counter-pop measures" (i.e. a bit of foam over the diaphragm) is already sufficient to cancel all but the most dramatic plosives. But it's not a big deal.
Also, if you're a cheapskate (like me!) you could just make a mono recording/mix of your narration, which would do away with the unusual stereo behaviour.

...it sounds like you might be getting tired of Star Zoo! (and I can understand why)
If you're accepting requests, I have a few in mind:
I'm personally a big fan of WWI Medic, which although does belong to the Bay12 family, is not a curses-based game (as are LCS and Star Zoo)
Alternatively, try Corin's... which is curses-based, and more importantly I haven't got a fecking clue how to play, so an LP could really help me get a lot more out of it  ;D

Or, there's always LCS? Admittedly, Grimith is already engaged in an LP for this title (and highly entertaining it is, too), but it really lends itself to an ongoing "diary" sort of LP, and it's so open-ended every man and his Canine Hero could have their own series and they'd still all be different.

Somewhat embarassingly, I did actually think of a couple of points to make here on my walk to university later in the day, but now, being completely sozzled, have forgotten them*

As funny as it would be, I just can't think of any reason how free speech would let you run around with swords (not foam weapon, but actual swords).
Fair point. Could it be assumed that under certain circumstances, "the masses" consider these swords to be (mostly-) harmless replicas? They are sold from a costume shop, after all. Maybe "LARP costume" could be an armour that successfully disguises a sword (as clothes etc. disguise pistols, and trenchcoats cover up shotguns?), but such disguises are as bad as walking around nude when Free Speech (or whatever laws that govern acceptability of LARPing) are AC?
I'd like to point out, by the way, that I neither LARP nor have anything against those who do. I just thought that it could provide a characterful, humourous solution to the issue of maintaining a disguise whilst brandishing a sword.

*I lie, I've just remembered one: how about a message/announcements log? I can't count the number of times I've accidentally buttoned past a message that I later realise could give vital clues about the sudden disappearance of an important LCS member. Also, while I'm here, I'd just like to thank the makers of Oubliette, Toady One, Jonathan and all the "curses crew" for their part(s) in bringing LCS to the masses. Kudos to you all, and thanks again to Jonathan for continuing to further develop this awesome game (regrettable though it is that it appears to be taking over my life!) :D

Somewhat unusually, perhaps (I've heard some horror stories), photobucket has never pulled any of my hosted images without warning; yet I've always heard that imageshack was better in this respect. Who knows.

Anyway, thanks for doing this LP, Grimith! I like your storytelling, but if I'm honest, it's the videos that really grab my attention. Laughter is contagious, I suppose. Mass murder isn't really my style (at least not so far, not yet having attempted Nightmare Mode), but this series has never failed to entertain and enlighten (ho ho).

Keep up the good work!

Curses / Re: Heat (various questions)

Well, while I am a little concerned when any of my safehouses suddenly rocket to >100% heat, I'm not going to invite the Conservatives around for a raid just to get rid of it... especially if it has no discernable effect on the likelihood of my safehouses being raided under normal circumstances.

Classic D&D session.
I watched this so many times back in the day. Summoner was a great game, too (even though I never bothered keeping up with all the fluff about Areugeneth etc. etc., or whatever it was). And games can never have too many arbitrary GM dice rolls.

Player: I SHOT HIM IN THE HEAD! DOES HIS HEAD ASPLODE?!
GM: *rolls dice* Yeah, sure. His head explodes.
Player: COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! XD

...I did actually have something to say about fixes/improvements for forthcoming LCS updates when I checked this thread, before sort-of derailing it, but I forgot. Sorry.

So, heat on your activists only disappears if they "do time"?

Is there a way of knowing how much heat is on a particular activist? I've only been able to see the (most recent? most severe?) crime in an activist's criminal record, and heat as a percentage on each of my safehouses via the site actions screen.

Also, what is the relationship between heat on activists, and heat on sites? Do sites get heat when known offenders return to them after committing Liberal acts (e.g. site actions)? I've noticed that raids seemed to happen with much greater frequency in previous versions; in the current version, I haven't been raided yet (even on sites with 100%+ heat and only moderate secrecy); is this a characteristic of the current release, or are my Liberals simply better at avoiding Conservative attention for whatever reason?

Dang. Might have to change my siggie...

Go ahead! And if you have the tract somewhere, I'd like to see it very much! I laughed my arse off when I read the Harry Potter one, before I realized how sad it is...

Cheers! I was actually thinking of the classic D&D lampoon, "Dark Dungeons"? Which of course isn't immediately connected to LARP, but I'm sure those close-minded Conservative automata can't tell the difference.

(Oh yeah! Here's the tract: I used the mind bondage spell on my father. He was trying to stop me from playing D&D.)

At the moment I am most enjoying sending hobos with high charisma to the Gentlemen's Club to bat their eyelashes at Corporate bosses.

Also, changing my slogan from something more aligned with self-righteous Liberal activism (e.g. "Peace! Justice! PEACSTICE!") to something more generally, um, expressive, just so my fighters can go to the park and shout "PUT THE FUCKING LOTION IN THE BASKET!" at Conservative passers-by.

Would it be possible to tie-in sword "concealability" (or more likely, legality?) to Free Speech laws? E.g. when AC, LARPers are a stain on the moral fabric of the nation (you can extrapolate this from a particular Chick tract, I think); when L+, LARPers are free to swing their swords at anybody/everybody LARPs (sometimes)?

Before watching the video, I can only hope that you've been more fortunate than I have when playing Star Zoo. Having read that you're playing a Philosopher, I'm not sure even that will be enough! I can't remember ever reaching close orbit of Snow Cup with anything but a Pilot... but this is perhaps because I suck?

Anyway, best of luck with this (very difficult) game! I look forward to watching your LP; not least because I might pick up some hints that might make completion of the first stage more attainable to me.

[edit: After watching your videos, I think you will need some luck after all! I had forgotten how unforgiving the corridor/shooter bit could be. As for the mic problems:
1. Popping "p", "b" and other "plosive" sounds can be remedied with a pop shield. Most microphone manufacturers will recommend you buying one of their own expensive models, but you can acheive the same effect with a light fabric (such as tights... um, "pantyhose"?) stretched over a frame. A simpler method of reducing pop is to increase the distance between the source of the sound and the diaphragm.
2. This is only a guess, but if your mic uses a (mini-) TRS connector to plug directly into your soundcard, it could be a fault with either the connector or its mate (I have a similar problem with my headphones). Basically, movement will sometimes pull the contacts out of... contact. It's likely either the connection, or a fray/breakage along the cable somewhere.

Hope that helps  ???

Apart from that, fun! I look forward to more nightmares.]
