Yes; you are doomed. We all are, in the end, only Armok's playthings. Oh, you meant doomed specifically by this event? Nah.

Zeus, Swan, and Leda, Human, have married! Congratulations!
They have decided to forgo any formal celebration.
Leda has laid an egg. x2

I just know a lot of adventurers will go pee in the holy water font as soon as this release hits, expecting to be "cursed" with some majestic and fearsome alternate form, only to end up as a were-lemming, were-butterfly or somesuch...

And THAT is how the cult of people who only eat dinners ended.  :-\

You made me laugh. I hope you are appropriately rewarded by karma.

Obviously you teach WATSON to play all 20,000 games

Let's not forget his legendary cooking.

This is a fish biscuit (2,000). It is made from miraculously minced bread and supernaturally minced fish.

DF General Discussion / Re: UPDATE ALREADY!

Toady is developing relatively quickly already.

Even if he wasn't don't hurry the man. As much as you'd like it to happen, he's already devoted every single one of his waking hours to this, and hurrying would mean releasing something sub-par. This isn't even as bad as it gets in terms of waits. There was a year-long one after 40d, so this one isn't that big in comparison.

So calm down. It's come out when it's done.

I know about the gap. I was there. I just though the arc was going to be released sooner with less. Doing it all in one big go seems to be a recipe for crazy bugs.

The game is in open beta. We're beta-testing so we can find the bugs. If Toady was worried about releasing a buggy version, he'd not release anything for the next ten years.

The book Ender's Game contains a little a bit some a lot of trolling.

I could build solid gold tombs in [the circus] itself, sort of as a big middle finger to the very things that finally brought them down. I mean the [clowns] came to their home and picked a fight, all four died.. but the [clowns] were tossed into magma while the dwarves will rest eternally on their enemies very doorstep, who will be unable to do anything about it.

I wouldn't. The way things are going with the development, soon anything buried in the circus is likely to return as clowns.

Clearly, we are running low on ways to combat the rising tide of undead.

Right now all you have to do is hit them with a shovel.

But... but... there are no shovels in the game! *panics*

We had a Lord of the Rings -report reenactment thread earlier, and it was awesome. Based on what I've seen here so far, this is a bookmark to treasure.

As far as I've gathered, DF is supposed to become a fantasy simulator, with the flavour determined by the user. So all this talk about what DF "should" and "shouldn't" be is perhaps a little superfluous. We're in development yet (and for a loooong time still, I bet) so everyone can't be satisfied at once; if Toady does high fantasy then someone is bound to be happy, if only because he'd likely do the other flavours around that time too.

Since the addition of pastures and ghosts, we should have a Pac-Man vs Dwarf Fortress thread as well. I love this logic!

Yeah, dwarves are into magma dips, terminal velocity, "combat practice", megabeast fodder, selling to elves (likely as a food), drowning, and so on, but not slavery.

Because Armok commands you to shed blood, not care for its vessel.
