I'm dead. Be a dark sorcerer all you like. Not even going to possess your soul or anything like that.

Good thing I keep my soul outside of my body for emergencies such as this one.

Black magic it is then.

2
I'll go for black, if it's not already taken by another sorcerer.

3
What schools are there? I can't recall them all off the top of my head. >.<

4
Could I claim the sorcerer Bim Zagodvakun, and dub him Bobnose the Flatulant? Because that silly name will not leave me head. And it's a misunderstanding, really. There's a difference between a flatulist and a flutist.

Despite what you might be thinking, no, he is not an aspiring air mage.

Download link does not work. Did DFFD explode with sheer amount of DF2014 download stuffs?

Masterwork DF / Re: [DWARF] - Gameplay Questions

...well that was weird.

I think I just had a forgotten beast swim up through the magma sea, tear through a magma forge, and then procede to murder several dwarves.

That's not the baffling part.

The baffling part is that I was altered to the creature's presence via a "Urist McDwarf has been transformed into a giant rat!" window message.

Shortly followed by Urist changing back into a dwarf, announced by a similar window.

Two of my military died fighting the beastie. Pretty normal.

Theeeeen they came back, announced with a "Living Proof of Miracles" announcement window.

I've been futzing around with the new workshop types, so I might have managed to do something that might trigger that.

Or they might be vampires of some sort, as they both now look two hundred and something years old. Elapsed time since year zero is around 100ish years at this point.

Before rat transformations and resurrecting people, I was trying to find out which exactly of my dwarves is responsible for sucking two dwarves (thus far) dry.

With one hundred and ten or so dwarves, I'm not quite sure how to go about quickly locating the fiend.

Ok, while I was typing this I've had a third dwarven resurrection.

So in short:
Dwarf turned into a giant rat and back, what the heck?
Dwarves coming back to life, what the heck?
Vampire on the loose, least time consuming way to identify?

Argh! I've went and done it again! I REALLY need to remember that Troll Berzerkers, especially once they're down in Lair, have more abilities than just Berserk. If I'd have used Trog's regeneration, or called in Brothers in Arms, I'd have tipped the scales against the two Ice Dragons. I killed one, and got the other down to the tiniest sliver of health before I died. Couldn't gulp potions or read scrolls, due to Berserking. :(

I hope it's totally drilled into me this time.

*grumbles* Packs of four gnolls on D2.

I don't mind getting an orc wizard, and orc priest and six orcs before I've even found the temple. Oh no, I can deal with all THAT. But what really pisses me off is when that's followed up by a bloody Orc Warrior WHO FRIGGIN ONE SHOTS ME for 33 damage because he's got some bloody big axe.

Grr... I'm getting sick an tired of dying to out of depth monsters showing up in droves. I don't mind the occasional one or two, but when I get a fucking unique, a death yak, an Elephant, and a half dozen other monsters all at the same time on D10 that's more than a little bit of overkill. Especially when I'm a NaWz of Chei.

Is there a race/class combination that will have tools to deal with OOD monsters, crowds, the occassional player ghost, and doesn't have a 90% chance of dying 10 feet from the door like most things do?

Question.

Whydoes the game always close after you die, and how do you stop it?

Yeah, how do you stop that from happening? It didn't used to do that to me.

Died to an Iron Golem on D8, showed up right near an altar of Okawaru, so I assume it's essentially part of a themed alter? Kind of a dickish thing to have a chance to show up that bloody early.

On one map, not one of the official ones, whatever the CP stages map that ends up with a big portal looking thing at the end is, I managed to pretty much lock down the first control point in Stage 2.

That was the day I also found out that in order to keep a wrangled Level 3 sentry permanently running, you needed to have TWO level 3 dispensers to fuel metal for it.

Alas, my dwarven necromancer met her end on Vault 8, not by the vault guards, oh no, but rather swarmed by a Lich, three dragons, and five stone giants. This being after I managed to kill off Mara. :(

You cleared Elf:7 at level 19? I'm actually quite impressed. Most sane people would of cleared Vaults:1-7 before clearing the deathtrap that is Elf:7. At this point, you could probably go clear out Vaults:8, dive down to Zot:5 and just win the game, possibly with a brief sidetrip to Crypt and Blade to get some extra loot and exp.

Huh. It wasn't particularly difficult, actually. While I did have to use two Heal Wounds potions and perhaps 5 charges in my Wand of Healing (how much HP does it cost to use the Deep Dwarf recharge ability, by the by?), my biggest problem were the Priests, which would drop Smites on me. For the most part I got things lined up in a corridor and dropped Freezing Cloud from my Wand of Destruction on them, summoning an occassional Greater Demonic Servant from Makhleb when things were going a bit badly.

I did have to emergency teleport twice, but that was only when confronted with a summoned Executioner. He was the reason behind two of the Healing Wand charges being expended, due to my Blink scrolls being burned out by a casting of Sticky Flame (which was responsible for another charge).

For the most part I was able to drop Freezing Clouds on two or three of the elves in the treasure room at a time.

Swamp 5 and Shoals 5 were incredibly easy for the character, and I went through all of Elf:7 before I took on the big room. Individually and even in groups the common elf spawns weren't a problem.

Well, wow. This is the furthest I've ever gotten a character. Swamp and Shoals were a total breeze, the Elven Halls, however, consumed almost all my resources. I think I need to go and gain some more XP and work myself up to casting Alister's Intoxication and Haste, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Can anyone offer me some advice on what to do now?
