General Discussion / Re: Sheb's European Politics Megathread
« on: June 12, 2014, 03:31:10 am »
The deficit wasn't just about goods, but also food products. Also the USSR put it's nasty mark on more countries than just Russia or the Baltic states. The world is much much better without it and if a single country can not handle itself, then it is that country's problem.

I quite like the fact that I could fly to the US without much problems and without having some secret agency going over my bloody life. Also I don't have to wait months for the horrible inefficient machine to slowly grind its wheels or wait for Moscow.

I like the fact that I can walk into a store and get some bananas, without having to run there and then wait hours in line the day the order comes in or pay some clerk a bribe to get myself some bananas.

I can register a company that does whatever I want in minutes without having to report every single thing to the state and then wait weeks or months for the paperwork.

I like that I can state my opinion without the fear of being dropped out of school, losing my job or being locked up in prison.

I like it that I have information from all around the world, that does not go through heavy state censorship. I like it that I actually have a vote in who rules my town, this country or who represents it in the European Parliament.

This thing can go on and on and on.

Yes I do, but that still doesn't devalue my opinion on the matter. A lot of Russians living in Russia also think that it was a horrible horrible thing. Who would like a regime with no freedoms, constant deficit everywhere, raving corruption, horrible leadership and etc?

It was called a Russia Independence day just a few years ago, IIRC.
Wiki says it is now officially Russia Day.

So we literally celebrate the day when Soviet Union completely fallen apart (._.) Nothing to be proud of, methinks. Nothing to be ashamed of as well, however.
I myself am very happy that the USSR fell apart like it did. It should of done so sooner, rather than so late. It was a horrible mistake of humanity's history.

Should I get CIV V without the DLC on the gamersgate deal or get the CIV IV complete edition for the same price?

Do both of them have an active online community or maybe I should just wait for a complete edition of CIV V on discount?

I love Covert Action. For some reason I really like the case-by-case generation and world-building that goes on and how masterminds appear until you have caught them. For me it's like the ultimate James Bond simulator.

I think that it should really have a remake, but one that stays true to the roots. If I'd know how, I would do it.
It would just need a modern control scheme (as in, mouse+keyboard support, not press X to win) and updated graphics.
The character could also move more smoothly during the combat minigames and I have never understood the damn driving minigame :P
Oh, well, yeah, the driving minigame was kind of not very intuitive. The other three were cool, though. I kinda liked the movement, it was slower and promoted cover interestingly much for such an old game.
We'll need a mass of quicktime events when messing with security, dodging and such for stealth as we get into wiretapping and bugging vehicles and such. Not as much necessary, than to just bug people who hate QT events.
You must also have replenishing health.

Actually a quirky touch of Cover Action is that after every mission you hook up with a girl and the hotness of that girl and the location where you meet depends on how well you did.

After clocking 41 hours with this game, I finally beat the boss on easy with Lanius B. I had a flak II, Pegasus missile and ion charge I believe and of course 2 lanius for boarding. Damn this was satisfying.

I got past the movement bug by starting the entire game again.

Stable. Seems that I have to restart the ENTIRE game if I want to start a new game.

Palsch, the site is an official estonian government site, but that article is in the news section and is an opinion article written by an expert in the field, who does not work for the agency.

Oh, sorry, 85,1% percent Estonian, 8,1% foreign citizenships(6,95% is Russian) and 6,5% without a citizenship. You can see that this adds up to 99.7% and this is because 3116 people did not mark their citizenship.
