General Discussion / Re: I HATE WINTER!!!!
« on: January 19, 2011, 07:44:41 am »
I recon.
I love winter! I'm going to move to Canada one day, I hear it snows a lot there.

Move to the eastern part. ... Here on the west coast, it rains for six months. We don't even have seasons. The year is divided into "Sunny" and "Rainy". That's what I get for living in a rain forest. :(

Also, the game is highly unstable, being built on what was basically a beta version of the source engine, it's really really slow while looking noticeably worse than HL2.

Witcher runs on a modified Aurora engine, which is basically the same engine which ran Neverwinter Nights 1&2 and KOTOR 1&2 which are old as hell...

General Discussion / Re: New Mortal Kombat Movie Trailer - Must see
« on: June 09, 2010, 07:24:43 pm »
I thought Reptile's character was pretty clever. Harlequin disease is scary, and I can't imagine how much pain someone would go through living their life with their skin and eyeballs inside out.

That being said, the trailer was a bit lacking in spirit. I kept glancing at the time, wondering if they'd show -more- because I thought it was an poorly edited trailer.

I'm so hyped for this movie, I'm just really sad that Wallace and Scott don't look anything like their comic versions... They were both cute, but their real life actors are hideous >_<

edit: And I -must- have that CBC t-shirt that Scott wears in the trailer!

You know, I have absolutely no problem with this. In fact, they should do this to all games. I hate going to EB, and seeing used games on the shelf selling for nearly full price! Not to mention the fact that -all- their games are used, unless you specifically request a new game from behind the counter. The whole used-game/trade-in system is messed right the hell up.

Am I the only one that loves large amounts of migrants? I understand it isn't immersing, but having so many bodies is wondrous when preparing to take over caverns

I also really like getting so many migrants. It makes the beginning of the game more challenging, because not only do you have to feed all those migrants, and clothe them, you also gotta put them to work.

I've been able to start projects years ahead of schedule, because I can devote entire migrant waves to things that need to get done, like settling the underdark. I tinkered with worldgen, so the underground cave systems are vast open underground plains. Where many dwarves die quick, terrible deaths.

I imagine getting thousands of nukes into space would be a fantastically expensive endeavor. Imagine the exhaust fumes? XD

It's not about aliens being good or evil! The universe is vast, and there could be thousands of alien civilizations out there. All we have to do is contact one "bad" race, and it's curtains for the human race. At this time, humanity is not in a good position to be shouting "Hey! I'm here! Look at me!" because we exist on only one planet. All our eggs are in one basket. That's too -risky-.

It took one disease to decimate the populations of the New World.

Hell, we don't even have any way of protecting ourselves should anything come our way. We can't even protect ourselves from rogue asteroids, and we're still broadcasting our presence to the universe. What do we do if some alien species shows up and finds Earth would make a good resort, sans humanity?

Oh man. Princess Maker! I love this game. We need to discuss the best foods for increasing the daughter's bust size. Anyone marry their own daughter yet? I know the feature's in the game (at least the second one), I just haven't been man enough to try. :D

General Discussion / Re: Crack Shack or Mansion
« on: April 19, 2010, 09:00:19 am »
No. The bubble hasn't popped, and real estate prices are rising across Canada. I don't think anyone expects a "correction" to happen any time soon... The OECD is forecasting Canada’s gross domestic product to have risen 6.2% in the first three months of this year.

I should buy a house in the arctic. :P

Okay, I live in Vancouver, Canada and besides from hosting the Olympics, we also have the distinction of having the most unaffordable housing prices in Canada. Just how unaffordable?

Go here, and try out this game, Crack Shack or Mansion

And yes, all those prices are -real-. I'm not sure whether to laugh, or sick up. :S All I know, is that I'll never be able to afford one of those houses. The worst news is that, prices are still rising. In the past three months, prices have risen 29%. It's almost like the recession didn't even happen.

Oh, and the US dollar and the Canadian dollar are almost at par. Makes these prices even more hideous. :D

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Silk is godly?
« on: April 17, 2010, 08:18:53 am »
I heard awhile back, that they were using spider silk as the inspiration for a new type of super strong armor. I just checked the wiki page, and it says that spider silk is even stronger than high-grade steel (and even Kevlar).

So I should be outfitting my dwarves with spider silk clothing?

Perhaps the different "grades" of prepared food are to blame? Higher grades of food have more units of resources, and are perhaps more fattening?

Someone should compare the results of eating lavish (roasts) food, and easy (biscuits).

Other Games / Re: How to Make $2,500,000 in Four Hours
« on: April 16, 2010, 11:16:42 pm »
What? I thought the Celestial Horse was fantastic. The mount is tied to your account, so you can use it on any character and the riding skill required, scales with your level.

What's the big fuss about? Instead of spending thousands of gold, and spending WEEKS farming, you can fork over a few dollars and get it.

This isn't a "rip-off". How many hours would it take someone, with 5 characters, to get 5 flying mounts?

Those hundreds of hours spent farming, are a "cost" and I think, these hundreds of hours cost more than anything sold in WOW Item Shop.
