Is there a way to use blenders? I tried putting a hamster in one and activating it, but nothing happened. I dropped the blender and the hamster ran out. :(

I'm Canadian, and most student loans here are offered through government (federal and provincial). Banks do offer student loans, but I don't know anyone that's received a student loan through a bank even though they offer the same thing basically. Canadians have a weird inherent trust in our government, and an inherent distrust of our banks (you should see the outrageous fees they charge here).

I don't really know what the fuss is about. Government is able to provide some services better than the private sector, -because- the profit motive is removed.

Not exactly touching, but it creates the desire to touch. :D

i suggest you try to find the free bears village, in the south... people are friendly there.
Just completely ignoring the offer I made earlier, then?
Though I have yet to see you online, Croquantes..

But yeah, Freedom chat is a massive flame war.
That's about all there is to it.

Not ignoring. It's just I usually play at night/morning. When do you usually play?

Life Advice / Re: List of things that are beautiful!
« on: September 16, 2009, 09:14:43 am »
Three things I think are beautiful:

A cool summer day, with grey skies above stretching for infinity.

Walking through a forest, or a field, during a full moon.

Seeing people do small, and overall insignificant, nice things for each other while receiving no benefit. Y'know, holding doors open or helping old ladies cross the street.

I'm still running around, trying not to starve while working on my skillz. Question though, is it just me or does the Wurm community seem a bit... caustic. Especially freedom chat. Wurm is the first game I've ever played where newbie questions are laughed at. It might just be a freedom chat thing cuz I've met people while running around that never speak in Freedom chat.

Hmm. I got sidetracked. I'm still fairly close to Samling, near Stonecastle actually. Trying to mine for iron, but it's time consuming. >:0

I'll wander in the direction of Port Tuscany then. One question. How do you make money in this game? I managed to sell a crappy jar I made for like, 0.043 silver. Which merchants can I sell to, and how hard is it to make the 5 silver needed for a homestead deed?

They fixed Golden Valley. The bears are extinct, so you don't have to worry about them anymore. :D

I subbed for some reason. It was a spur of the moment decision that I prolly shouldn't have made. Running around Freedom Isles at the moment, trying to find clay.

You should never install stuff with Antivirus on. :P In fact, most installations warn you beforehand to turn off virus protection before installing.

My 4X game of choice is Fall from Heaven 2, running under Civilization 4's engine. I haven't played in a while... I was waiting for the AI upgrades they are working on, to teach the AIs how to use spells properly.

Have you tried the Orbis modmod for Fall from Heaven 2? Makes FfH2 even harder. :D

There's a method to playing GalCiv games. The beginning of the game is basically spent colonizing as many new planets as possible. Remember to juggle the budget, because undeveloped colonies have a high upkeep and too many new ones can quickly send you into debt.

After the first colonies develop, develop them in a particular direction. A few planets for research, some for commerce, others for ship building. A planet wholly dedicated to ship building can pump out large, high quality ships each turn.
