Yeah, but why won't they put them in the stockpile? I was wondering if there was a setting for the stockpile I had to activate. I couldn't find feldur coins in any of the settings.

I've got a bunch of Feldur coins of varying metals now, I think they came off the reclaimed corpses of humans who died fighting goblins n stuff. What kind of stockpile do I need for these? The dwarves are hoarding them in their bedrooms instead of putting them in the Coins stockpile.

I think that # of dwarfs that died lately have an influence on immigration. Even just one or two deaths sometimes causes my immigration to drop a lot.

Quick question, what do i have to do to get the world i am currently playing in DF  mode into adventure mode? do I have to abandon the fortress? because when i try to start a new adventure game I only see world i'm not currently playing in the list.

Dwarf Fortress is the only game in the world that allows you to beat up other people with their own limbs.

Dead Rising as well as another older zombie game allowed this as well. It's sort of a staple of zombie culture :)

Dead rising doesn't allow you to throw chunks of the ground at zombies, does it?

No, although the list of things you could use as weapons was ridiculously long...

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/file/928326/44540

something like 150+ weapons... you could smack them with a king salmon, or run over them with a lawn mower, or throw CD's like buzzsaws

I haven't tried 1-level artificial pools, but as far as I can tell, fishing out one pond does indeed fish out the rest.

Hm. I've seen my indoor ponds spontaneously generate fish IIRC.

Very imaginative narration but ah, I'm confused as to why your Lyemaker decided to start killing his fellow dwarves after finishing the Kobold.

Hmm, there's an idea for making nobles earn their keep.  Make their quarters part of the fortress defenses!  It is the nobles' responsibility to defend their people after all, so put them up there with the military.  Lets your royal guards see some action too.

For practical purposes, probably you would build the rooms and use them for stockpiles until nobles arrived.

Genius.  I now know where to put the King's Quarters.  :D

That's a great idea. Back when I thought nobles did something - anything- but consume resources, I gave them an awesome palace deep inside the earth, secluded from the proles and far from danger. But this idea is a great, why not put them right in the line of fire?

Zones. Use the "i" key to designate the ponds as drinking and/or fishing.

80 is still kinda excessive though.  Growers do gain skill relatively fast.

My current 100+ fortress runs off of maybe 30 squares of farm...

I keep around 190 dwarves. It's not like I really need all 80 farms though, its just that I've already got 50 idlers most of the time and I don't see any need to free up the farmers.

Lol, that is exactly what I was doing. I quietly realized from the other posts that this was what I was missing... was hoping I could get out of the thread without having to admit it ;)

Food export in this game only requires 1 legendary cook and a trade depot ;)

Not at the levels I export it. I supply all my world's food in fact, none of the rest of the world produces any food because mine is so affordable and yet high-quality.

I don't even see why it matters what I'm mass-producing, its not like there is anything I can't afford, I buy out the traders on every trip and it doesn't even put a tiny dent in my stocks. If I want to produce stone blocks or whatever I want for profit, it doesn't really matter at this point. I have broken the world economy by being too strong a producer.
