Wondrous Towers: A sincere lack of ambition.
The Journals of Zulban Ethadardes, founder of Anururdim, apparently:
Well, journal, this has been a week to remember and no mistake!
Ok, well, here's how it started off. See, I enjoy my work. I'm an engraver, and if there's one thing you can say about engraving, it's that most folks will leave you be and let you carve out whatever you want. Even if it's, say, a portrait of the king getting scared to death by a bunch of rabbits. (he's terrified by them! He really is!) People don't mind! Heck, they no-one minds. You just to be good enough at engraving, and, hey, I think I am! Heck, I know that I am.
Ok, well, after that, I was approached by a member of the kings court. First thing, he congratulated me on my engraving skills! Yes, he did! Next thing, after that, he asked if I would be okay with leaving the mountainhomes, forever, like. What? Well, that was the start of the week.
Anyways, I got a message after that telling me to "make myself ready", because I would soon be leading some folks (well, the message actually called them "the other deviants", but what does that even mean, anyways?). into the wilderness to make a new outpost in, and you won't believe this, someplace that isn't the mountains! I don't know what the people up top are trying to pull here (my leg?), but like I said, a week to remember! Why do they want me to lead? Why would we ever want to leave the safety of these tall, homey, wonderful mountains? All of this and more journal! We just got to wait until I know what all of this means! Who am I travelling with? Where are we going? Why is the king so dang afraid of rabbits anyhow? More news will be coming soon, I hope!
((The theme of this fort is ordinariness. The inhabitants of aren't legendary heroes or violent warlords. They aren't even competent masons. They're just ordinary peasant level dwarfs, trying to get by in a dificult and hostile world. There are no, and will be no hero's here. Anyone out there interested?)
