A fresh recruit @ stands over the strangly built tower of the Creeps of Axe.





His name Nguslu Kutsmobuno, Menanceskull; named for as the muscles of his face barely show or move. Nguslu clutchs his fresh wounds and lays down to catch his breath.





They came so quickly and in such large numbers... no one shall forget this day or whom they have lost. Chasm creatures, the horror, every once in awhile a troll or two would come hunting for lost or wandering children but today an unknown force lead great numbers up to the surface. Why? Why? WHY!? Did this happen?

Was it the guards who feel asleep on the job?



This one did suffer wounds but still, such sluthfulnes deserves punishment by death! But a beating is sufficent.





Perhaps it was their fault, the populus could had better prepared their defenses if they were warned of the horrors before the slaughter.



Especially this one, how he survived sleeping so close to the chasm is beyond me! I hope he rolls over and falls into the depths of this hellish feature.



It would be such a long fall, I can not even see the bottom of this feature.


Here we have another surrounded by pools of blood.


...Any dwarfs would have considered such a blood bath to be the holy work of their god Armok, if this were true, than thier god is an evil god.


So many bodies.





I dare not venture further into the underground road.

Such carnage shall be remembered for days to come.



This blood, from what I can see someone spelled "go back" in it. A suffiecent warning to anyone who is willing to travel the underground roads.




The fighting at one point became so desperate that our High Preist resorted to beating the creatures to death with his crown!

But now it is over, I have been tasked to go forth and examine the damage, I can smell the stench of death wafting through the halls of this tower.


I asked the bowman to come with me, he turned and told me that it would be himself who would need protection but he needs no such service. I could see him shaking in his boots when he turned around and fled, I don't blame him.

So my request is that...



I   NEED   A   WAY   TO   DEFEND   MY  FORT.

I'm stuck between preserving the beauty of my land, hey I haven't struck the earth yet! Besides the places of the brook, apparently dismantling a wall on a brook tile makes sand... it looked ugly O.K! I also dug into this one pond area that looked like an area which a dwarf would dodge into but it still looks nice, might carve ramps and channels but that's about it. I also want there to be blood so it has to have an opening which would keep things interesting.

So yeah, any suggestions are appreciated, as well as feed back.

Some background info: I started playing guitar when school began, (september... something) and it's now april so I've been playing for some ninty something plus days, (not bad at math, I just don't have music everyday). I am left handed and that being, I could not practice at home as left handed guitars are hard to come by, (let alone classical left handed guitars). But luckily I bought this not too long ago, which has been in my possesion for two and a half weeks so far; the string were in bad condition though but no real problem.

Anywaaaay, considering my time I've been practicing this song for about a month and a half? I'm not sure, all I know is that it is very, very difficult as far as most pieces go. Even the experienced guitar players I asked to play this song, (ranging from five to twenty five years of experience) have said that it is very difficult to play: akward fret positions, difficult tempo but non the less a very very beautiful song.

Anyway I maaay be playing this as a solo piece at a concert in May, maaaybe, (I'm not promising anything). If I do not I'll try again next year, there are some things concerning this idea if I atempt to do it though. (But I will PM Toady for that).

I will place a few things in here that can be examined under everyone's opinion.

1. Anyone know how to get a midi or wav or mp3 version of the Dwarf Fortress in game song?
2. What are the chances I will crash and burn, (audiences scare me :'( )
3. How do you think I may do if I try this year
4. My guitar? (It was the best deal I could find)
5. ... think left handers are better at playing the guitar
6. Think I'm going to do it?

Yes, dwarven vows, now shut up and listin.

About a week ago, (before my computer finally got fixed) my cousin rummaged through my closet looking for something to dampen his boredem. Expecting him to find something I did not want him to find, I instead breathed a sigh of relief when he found the game Tales of Symphonia which is something I hold fond to my heart. Anyway I told him I was not going to play it with him, as I had already completed all of the ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY HOURS OF GAMEPLAY CONTENT WITH IN IT erhm.

So I watch him play for some time and when he finaly beats the fake treasure chest mini boss in the first dungeon, with some of my own tips. I hear a quite pleasing after battle scene.

Collete & Genis- Dwarven Vow number one, [or was it eleven?] Justice and love will always win.
Lloyd- Urgh I hate that saying.


Sooo! That's what we're making! Dwarven vows! How about? Any takers? Any? Come on! I'll stop making this punctually short sentences if you do! PLEASE! O.K. Thank you.

Number one should be the quoted though cheezy one from the game mentioned earlier, because that is what inspired this topic. You may only make one at time and please give the vow more than two seconds of thought.

DF Suggestions / New suggestions-Cleanliness preference

Here is how it goes. And lets call them C3 C2 C1 T D1 D2 D3, respectively.

Obssesed with cleanliness
Prefers a clean home
Dose not mind filth so much
Tolerates both clean and dirty
Dose not care for cleanliness
Enjoys being dirty
Loves filth


Here is how it works.

Obviously a dwarf with any C ratings will have the messages such as

C3 Was horrified by muddy tracks on the floor (Smoothed floor indoors, is different for most surfaces)
C2 Was irritated by muddy tracks
C1 Was bothered by muddy tracks

T No message is generated
D1 No message either
D2 No message as the dwarf only enjoys being dirty

D3 Admired some muddy tracks on the floor

Obviously with the way that we treat our forts now a days we will prefer the D3 dwarf, but how about a C dwarf performs sanatation dutys more willingly and even performs cleaning up said tracks when on break!

C3 Was ecstatic about removing a mess
C2 Enjoyed removing a mess
C1 Got around to removing a mess

Of course those with trees to grow should mark their areas with forbidden tiles.

Moving on, a C dwarf will also prefer staying indoors more often, cleaning/grooming them selfs, getting that vomit stain off of their shoes, actually organize their clothing and even care for their clothing, which help them last much more longer! As they prefer to be more neat, so less clothing to make and less micromanging for when you have any C dwarf!

Also for when diseases are implemented a C dwarf should be more immune to such diseases, while a D dwarf is not. Also perhaps a C3 dwarf will look more impressionable to diplomats or liasons when compared to a D3 dwarf.


Continuing a C3 dwarf will also bath more often, atleast once a week. While a D3 will only bath once a year, when his C3 friends start asking him to. So hopefully messages like this could be generated.

C3 Enjoyed a blissfully clean bath
C2 Enjoyed a bath
C1 Took a nice bath

T Had a warm bath

D1 Was bothered to take a bath
D2 Same as D2 though more of an impact
D3 Was irritated by friends to take a bath

Also C dwarfs should enjoy doing any job which requires cleaning, such as cleaning thier clothing or cleaning another friend's clothing

C3 Was ecstatic about cleaning anothers filthy clothing

While T or D1-D2 would get something like...

Had to wash their clothing or irritated to clean their clothing. As for D3 they wear their clothing untill they are completly dilapidated.


So any thoughts before I continue?

It's called Brick Yard, it's like Tetris in more ways than one.

Except for the fact that in this one you stack the bricks than instead of getting rid of them. It's quite fun, especially for the fact that it is also a simple physics game as well.

The highest I've ever gotten so far is 669 meters! Let's see which one of us gets higher. Also press 'P' for instant laughs.

O.K. as we all know from history a democracy can be fun or funny. Of course mixing that with DF, and the B12 forums we can have the best of both worlds.

Here is our young fort if you so choose to participate.

About the fort, there are two mods to this, the goblins family mod, and a slightly modified orc mod, size 12, and [trAPAVOID],
, [TR]. So things shall of course, be very interesting.

Ah also we are able to trade with vanilla goblins, who I increased their size to 10, and gave them [DAMBLOCK:10], as well as [TRAPAVOID]. About [TRAPAVOID], I've also given it to many creatures, so traps are completely useless for the most part.

Now rules, I'm going to make sure I don't bog you all down with too much of this crap.

Basic stuff
-You need to sign up of course
-Know what the term democracy is, and what a republic is.
-Have an idea of what you're doing if you get elected leader
-Be able to share powah
-Have your own cabinet

What I have in mind

If you're elected as the next forts leader.
-You have two years of rule before we elect a new leader, no you can't be elected twice in a row.
-If for some reason the new leader takes too long to update someone from his/her cabinet can takeover
-Your cabinet shall communicate through PMs, there's an option in the PM system to send PMs to more than one member, you can have as many people as you like in your cabinet, and you can be in more than one. Also you can add a limit on how many people can be in your cabinet.
-You must take commands from the people, but you of course have the power to act things out in the fort.
-If we think you're doing a bad job we can impeach you. >:(
-Give us plenty of interesting pics
-Secret projects must be kept secret! Because that's what governments do.
-Make sure to upload a map every year, just click my map link, and look for
[+'] Add a map to this series.

If you are not the leader of the fort.
-Make sure you respect the elected leader
-Make good suggestions par example.
"We should focus mainly of training Marksdwarfs"
"If so the marksdwarfs should be armed with steel bolts, micromanagement is a must"
"Screw Marksdwarfs Hammer dwarfs in  ☼Steel Plate Armor☼!
"O.K. how about cross training the Marksdwarfs with hammers, besides not much of a difference if we arm them with ☼Steel Crossbows☼."
-Try be active for the most part, if you can't make up for it with good suggestions or at least help us have fun.
-Always make sure you send your PMs to all cabinet members.

Etc stuff
-RP not enforced, but you can go on, and adopt your own dwarf, mine is the Glorious Leader who I will report as.
-Please give us three updates for every season so we can know what's going on.
-We can vote on allot of stuff so don't feel afraid to suggest something.

Fort stuff, game starts here.

I am this turns leader, I've given the fort about 5 free years to get prepared for the future, my turn is the last two years so let's make sure we use them to out best advantage! Also I changed the coke properties of Lignite, and Bituminous coal to produce 21 coke, what? I want glass in this place, and I'm getting too.
