The "Casual Gamer" part is completely inacurate... I suggest something like:
*snip*

The grinding aspect? If so, replace the fun with gravel.

That Quite a lot of DF's newer features are based off of other games?
These features were planned, like, 10 years ago, and I doubt Toady was influenced by any recently released game - usually he studies subject to far deeper degree, using trustworthy IRL sources. Like geology or medicine.
I tried to reproduce his world generation once, and could not find even good enough references myself.

+1
Looks like you need to spend more time coding blocks before you can make masterpieces like Toady_One.

You all would disgust me if I cared. You're supposed to be apathetic, not lazy.

I'm too apathetic to be lazy; I'm too lazy to be apathetic.

New peeks for version 4.0! And yes, there may be powerplants. (Or at least it sounds like it to me.) Any ideas/thoughts? (Zombie alligators in the sewers?)

Awesome, pic related.

*SNIP*

First try

They should replace the terminator in the background with Akin... akin... akin... AKINATOR! HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Even the name is similar! Guys, we are playing a simple guessing game with our future executioner.

I wonder if it can guess Skyn-GAH! It's using our curiosity against us!

I tried, it got it on the second try. Wait another two years and if it gets connected to a giant framework of computers; than we are officially screwed.

This thing is a vicious cycle. It expends our knowlage untill we manage to guess somthing it does not know, and then uses that knowlage to expand itself. It'll know everything soon enough.

Skynet eat your heart out.

I am not impressed.
Spoiler: Score card compressed (click to show/hide)

I tried Cacame Awemedinade and I got some sorta Disgea (however you spell that) character. Although on the second try, I did get Toady_One. Third try I tried Âsax, apparently he was not introduced to the program yet. I'm starting to get scared that this may be able to learn. O_O Fourth, I tried Cirno from Touhou, I only got to question 14 before it guessed right. Fifth I tried Count Chocula. This is thing is good. I'm almost tempted to say its wrong. Or I'll just use more vague characters. GGRRRR, sixth was Spelunker. It got it right too. MORE VAGUE! AHA! I beat him with Goatse... I'm not very proud of that.

Hm... while guessing the Gimp mascot, I got the Firefox logo. Although in the end he got it wrong! YAY!

OP Doesn't understand that the most successful thing a human being can ever do to make something better is to copy it directly.

Seriously, in case you haven't noticed, humanity has built its greatest achievements by copying things from the past; only difference is that those old things have been improved upon and are typically given a different motif or other such small thing to distinguish it. This certainly isn't a bad thing IMO. Unless of course some big heartless corporation sues Toady_One, now that, would be very bad.

Personally speaking, it's all of these copied things that make DF unique. Of course, someone else made all those things before those people that you named who Toady_One copied.

Sometimes I wonder if staying away from the General Discussions board is a good idea.

I only see this going in two directions. This game will become so massively complex that it will fall under its own weight. Or it will become the new standard for epic forum games.
