Curses / Re: "Technical Pacifist" Crime Squad, A "Community...er...Squad"
« on: November 25, 2008, 04:14:20 pm »
---Since I don't know much about DF, I am tasking that job to Johnathan S. Fox. You've been recruited in, welcome.
---Sleeper EucrheFox just leaked some Corporate documents over to me. The Liberal Guardian is going to have a nice time tonight.
---It's September now. Election season is around the corner, so changing all Sleepers to Preaching Liberalism (except for the Judge, he'll stay Conservative until he's reach Arch-Conservative, so I can recruit more people). Recruited an Actor as well.

That must be one powerful Radio Personality.

EDIT2:
Quote
"This is breaking news from AM Radio news: On September 1st 2007, 4 Corporate Managers, 3 Lawyers, 1 Cable Anchorman, and 1 Actor signed a petition calling for the Conservative President to be impeached for abandoning Arch-Conservative thinking, when he vetoed two bills that would have defended Conservativism.

The leader of the intiviate, Carlos Sawyer, said, "We have tried secret backchannels to alert the President, but he has refused to budge from his position. We need to have safeguards on nuclear technology, to ensure that these technologies do not fall into the wrong hands. We need to cloose loopholes that allow for rogue secret agencies to spy on mega-corporations, thereby harming our profits and bottom lines. The President has refused to do such a thing. We were willing to compromise, but he wouldn't budge."

Conservative bloggers are hard on work discussing and dissecting this new information. Defenders of the Veto point out that many Conservative politicans have also voted against the two Bills as well, and that the President has signed a Conservative Bill exempting corporate executives from the death penatly. A few bloggers even quoted the Consitution in stating that the President may only be impeached if he committed a fenoly or high misdemenor, not because people hate him. The President himself stated that he has vetoed the two bills because he felt that existing regulations needed to be enforced more.

The Conservative Party may have been splintered for the time being, giving the Liberal Party a much needed chance at a rebound."

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Return of the "Strange Wars" Topic!
« on: November 25, 2008, 02:59:43 pm »

I just created a world, and looked at two wars on the legends screen.

The first one was "The War of Eviscerating," and consisted entirely of humans having their crap stolen by kobolds, so they raided the kobold caves, but found that the kobolds moved out before they got there. Every time, for 6 or 7 battles. Six "battles" of uncontested spelunking somehow qualifies as a war.

The next one is more humorous. Apparently, the humans, as always, got pissed at the elves always killing eating them. Except this time, they apparently got angry at one elf, who ran an entire retreat consisting of just him. So the 6 to 8 battles in that war consisted of mostly "6 humans, 3 losses, 1 elf, no losses" all the way back to his retreat, where he surrendered and was captured. I imagine that either this is the elven equivalent of Duke Nukem, or he got his hands on a secret dwarven machine-crossbow gun.

Anyone else find strange legends worth sharing?

I tuned into the Strange Wars topic because I really loved Strange Wars. When it got derailed however into off-topicness, I feel sad. I like reading about Strange Wars. So here is a new topic, starting with the OP from the first Strange Wars topic.

1) The Strange War I witnessed was the humans and the goblins waging war...over a dispute over Oath Breaking.

That's it. The Humans believed that Oath breaking is bad, the goblins said Oath Breaking was good.

Note that no oath was actually ever broken. The Goblins and the Humans just argued over if it is okay to break the oath, and the Humans and Goblins decided that they have to wage war in order to win this academic debate once and for all.

Naturally, the heroic humans defenders of morality broke into the Goblins' secret Headquaters and genocided everybody.

2) Another Strange War was a war (I don't remember what caused it) that had no battles. Whatsoever. It lasted a long time, and this war ended when the two sides signed a peace treaty.

All you have to do is add the tag [POWER] to all non-sentient creatures, and then edit the raws so that all Civilizations accept as their leader anyone who has the tag [POWER].

Simple.

Other Games / Nationstates Project: "Debt Fufilment"
« on: November 25, 2008, 12:28:41 pm »
Nationstates is my own personal purgatory. It's a terrible, and lame place. And yet...

There was one project I remember that I tried to do in the past, within the Nationstates UN. It was a plan to protect a 'way of life', to save society. Of course, it was also a thought experiment, to see if the UN would accept something that is quite simply...stupid. What this proposal really does is protect de-facto slavery.

Now I hate slavery. I'll state that right off. But my nationstate is okay with some forms of slavery, and I prefer roleplaying as an nation I hate than as an nation I love. It avoids the problem of "Mary Suedom".

I never was able to pull the plan to protect slavery in the United Nations, and to be fair, I do not want to make the UN regulars more angry at me than they are currently. But I do wonder what would happen if I tried to make the idea more...saner. Reasonable.

So, here it is.

beorn: Er. No. I did mean have the CEOes be the faith healers. Your idea works fine too, I guess.

Calculus: Accepted. As this is the first turn, you can start posting fluff and orders now.

I know nothing, so Jury seems nice. Plus, all you have to do is just communicate with your fellow Jurors once the evidence is presented. Okay.

Hmm, that fits with the Dominionist part of C++, but not the corporatist/oligarchical/feudal part. Now, as pointed out above, C++ is the result of the sweet union of these, so theocracy has its place, but we need to give some respect to the upper crust.

CEOes are the faith healers. (EDIT: Well, anybody who has the blessing of God [meaning, money] really. The more money you have, the more likely you have been blessed.)

I thought we already concluded that all our races are dead. That gives us closure.

But if not...tell me which GM is ruling (omegaalpha or chaoticag) in the meantime. I'll have to send him a message.

Plus, you don't really learn all the ins and outs of the "random map", and all the strategic points that matter. You can't study said map, which doesn't seem to benieft those who actually like improving their skills and learning how to fight on a battlefield effectively.

On the other hand, it might be funnier to play up the "Socialized medicine is slow" stereotype.

Which is exactly what we need to do.

"Bee arrives at the University Hospital."
"Bee is now waiting in the waiting room."
"Bee is now filling out paperwork."
"Bee is filling out forms in order to release his medical records."
"Bee is waiting, pending approval for a preliminary check."
"Bee is refilling paperwork because the approval was denied."
"The hospital has ran out of papers, Bee must wait for new forms to be delivered."
"Bee finally gives up and takes the Nurse hostage."
"Bee is told that for the Nurse to authorize 'medical assistance fast-track due to patient taking hostage a Nurse', the Nurse to fill out Form #596A and wait 6 business days."

Wow, it is like ultra-concervative states are more Religious, in the worst sense of the word, then the Roman Catholic Church!?!

Um, do realize that the game shows how the the Liberal Crime Squad sees the world. And LCS isn't exactly the bastion of sanity here.

Makes me wonder a bit about when we first entered eRepublik, how our political party endorsed the man who is responsible for the current situation in eThailand.

For ArchConservative: It is illegal for the poor to have any sort of health care. At all. God did not give you wealth because you are a bad person, so you deserve punishment for your sin. Just repent sinner, and you'll be back to normal.

Or even better, prohibit anyone from going to the Doctor. Rich or poor.

It is kinda interesting that this version of america that courts are barely based on actual evidence... It is all about who can spew forth the most heart wrenching words.

Well, he was loitering, after all. That's pretty clear.
