Constructions on this project have used upwards of 10,000 stone blocks, primarily gabbro and olivine.  When I first moved to this map I was expecting the lake to at least freeze on occasion so I could get the foundation down.   However somehow I ended up in the right climate spot so that not only didn't it freeze, no water evaporates ever.  I still have 5 year old splashes of 1/7 water in the basements.

So basically:

1. You should ask that Elite Human Warrior upstairs about the quests instead of any mayor.

2. Drunks are now generally replaced by normal professions and any warriors who are less skilled than you will be willing to join you if asked.

Minimal when I'm in the middle of a large project and don't have labor to waste hauling bodies.  I'll usually go to low effort and get the bones buried once I'm done though.

It's hard enough keeping everybody in separate room when they're alive, after they're dead it just isn't worth the effort.

1. Merchants will take the shortest route to and from your fortress no matter what.

2. Submerged construction projects require draining the work area.

3. Variable depth water prevents movement.

4. Merchants tend to go insane when not allowed to leave the map.

Okay that's a problem right there.  One table assignment will carry over onto every table in it's radius.  No only does this divide the value of the room by several factors if assignments overlap, but if one of those tables is assigned to a particular dwarf then they will think all the other tables belong to them as well and prevent other dwarves from eating there.

isn't everyone forgetting the fact that magma pipes refill? It's all well and good to drain it out, but the magma is going to come bubbling back up and murder your dimple cups (and dwarves).

Though, yes... farming in a magma pipe... is epic. I wish you the best of luck sir and hope you can make it work.

Just floor off the pipe after you've drained it.  Or at least wall off the section used for farming.
Magma respawns by dropping into the top of the pipe. Walling off the particular section of the pipe would still work.
