DF Gameplay Questions / Re: What to do with Dwarf bones?
« on: November 08, 2008, 06:48:17 am »
Build some coffins, designate some tombs. Bury the poor sods.

Or you could make amulets out of their bones, and have them serve you a last time.  And a totem out of their skulls.

Crafters won't touch the bones.

Same with a bow lodging in your abdominal Aorta or your heart. If you remove it, you die.
I'm sure that if an entire bow lodged in your heart you would be pretty much dead anyway...

You'd be surprised what people can survive in this game.  Why, in Fortress mode, I've had a Goblin (Missing an eye and a leg) lying at the bottom of a pond for 2 seasons.  He's just lying there a the bottom unconscious, as if in a state of suspended animation.

Dude's gone Jedi-master on me, and I can't even kill him.

Of course, we'll see who has the last laugh come Winter.

I had that happen to me. A gobbo got pushed down into my moat full of spikes and ended up laying on the same tile of as one of them severely injured. He was taking to long to die, so I dropped a floor on him.

Dude, my rule is: "If the it is hostile, kill it. If it is edible, EAT IT."

Modify: This would explain that tame toad that mysteriously disappeared from my animals list. Musta gone down the gullet of a dwarf.

DF Gameplay Questions / What to do with Dwarf bones?
« on: November 08, 2008, 12:28:30 am »
Hi, I just had a dwarf of mine get killed by a snatcher (Who was promptly executed by a timely marksdwarf. Wrestlers are so lazy) and I had him buried, and what came to my attention was the fact that my newly established "body bag room" is in fact, full of dwarf bones left over from an attack by a crazy mule in the first year. What the hell do I do with it?

Nope. Anything encased in ice dies instantly.

I always capture all the sieges, and place them in my giant flooding magma room and hook up the cages. Takes bloody forever, but it's awesome to watch the room fill with smoke as the goblins (And their trash) burns.

And lo! The heavens were thrust asunder! And unto the world, the horrible flying zombie whales emerged unto thy land! Cower in fear, thy Bell tolls for you!

Curses / Re: Where are all the Elephants?

"The elephant punches Urist McOperative in the head."

"Urist McOperative shouts, "FATHER! WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?!" and dies in a heap."

Elephants=Win, only if they are like the Deathphants of old.

Man...When Rick dies, what the hell are you going to do?

I think Rick's kill list is 99% of his page.

*looks at gatehouse covered in the clothes and armor of dead goblins*

Hmm...Nothing wrong here.

I wonder how long the outpost would take to become a mountainhome. If it did, it would be cool, because then you single-handedly managed to rebuild dwarven civilization in a world devoid of them.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: baby in middle of nowhere
« on: October 21, 2008, 11:11:37 pm »
I actually had a baby get injured, because her mother was a wrestler. So, kobold hurts the arm of the light child. What happens? Child goes loses consciousness(Mother had dropped her) and gets PASTED by my weapon trap.

Dutifully, the mother loses her fucking mind as her baby is hauled off to the tombs. Took down two dwarves before my champion cut her in half and sent her upper body flying against my dining room wall.

My champion was bummed by cutting her friend in half. But then she saw the dining room, and everything was better again.
