DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: I need ways to destroy my fortress.

Well consider, Military dorfs spend all their time severing limbs off sparring with each other, and so get a lot of talking done.

The dwarf he named his wife after had her kid lose a leg to goblin snatcher.

Still, that is golden.

Build a fortress nearby on a river and redirect into the glacier area.

Yep. Basically, any artery pierce damage is fatal without immediate Cardiovascular surgery.

I think the incredible amount of anatomy in this game gives it awesomeness.

The Animal Caretaker is finished. If the heart is pierced, the wound is mortal. Hell, if anything happens to the heart, the wound is mortal.

Also, on Rafael, that wound was mortal too. The Abdominal Aorta is an artery that emerges from the left side of your heart and circulates around your body. No way in hell you could have gotten him to safety before he bled out.

DF General Discussion / Re: A bounty is placed: Bring me Immigrants!
« on: October 04, 2008, 09:18:52 pm »
Last 4 worlds I made never gave me a single migrant. I can't very well build my obsidian tower out of the magma pit until I have dwarves to sacrifice for the whims of nobles, now can I?
Speed up your dwarves, that way 7 dwarves can do the work of 150 ^^

Unfortunately, when you actually get to 150 dwarves, you have absolutely nothing to do other than train obsessively, so that when the sieges come, the goblins don't even have time to think until the entire fortress population teleports right next to them, armored in full plate mail and carrying hammers.

☼Genitalia☼

This is a masterfully made genitalia. It is consists of many parts that are too complicated for males.

yay, we rock

No matter how complicated your genitalia may be, and the many various cancers and disorders you can get, we will always have a single advantage:

Urinating, standing upright.

Ha! Take that!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Trap Setups
« on: October 04, 2008, 05:55:07 pm »
Hi. I've been wondering how you set up your traps, and how successful your various setups have been.

As Mine, I have an alternating Weapon traps/stone fall trap set up in my 2 tile wide hallway. After those traps, I have three rows of cage traps, and then two doors followed by another row of weapon trap/ cage trap combo. The thinking behind it is that the weapon traps will kill anything not tough enough to survive it, and then the stone fall trap is too soften up the target for the next weapon trap. If anything survives this (And trust me, Goblins only get to the cages via sheer zerg rush), they're pretty bad ass, so I have three rows of cage traps to make sure I get the sucker. The extra weapon trap stone fall trap combo is supposed to lead onto my champions and steel-armed and armored hammerdwarves so that anything that can zerg rush/get past that (Aside from Kobolds) will have to deal with some getting knocked around/pummeled.

I once had a scorching glacier.

Hm. How that come about?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: youre most awesome fortress dwarf
« on: October 04, 2008, 05:12:26 pm »
My most awesome dwarf that I ever had was Dumed Leksol

Possibly the most badass she-dwarf ever, she had about 40 kills when she was severly maimed by a Bronze Colossus, who tore off her legs.

She continued to crawl around for a few years, until she was sniped off by Goblins. She had two girls, one boy. Her husband took her place pretty well, ended up a flaming torch when I had to activate the emergency magma trap.

I do have magma, but with no sand, it's only good for smelting magnetite and the malachite I have. I really doubt he could have done anything other than stand around and demand that I give him sand.

By the same bolt?
That situation, at least, is not possible. If I remember correctly, a bolt can only hit one body area at a time, be it a limb, the torso, or the head. A single bolt can, however, poke out your left lung, heart, liver, pancreas, and exit through your intestines.

No, by multiple bolts.

Still best guy in my party.

Basically, redirecting the river (With a 5 z-level drop) into an open hole in the wall.

Not to hard.

Hm. He went beserk.

Thankfully, he went insane when no dwarves were present, and the room was filled with war dogs. Sucker.
