When/ if I get a legendary bone crafter I always slaughter half of the litter of kittens so that the skin goes to the leatherworks to make armour and Quivers and the bones go to the workshops to be made into bolts, instant military succsess

I once noticed that wagons are actually creatures, so I modded them in as a civ. I checked legends to find one of them had pushed a dragon to death, I thought it hilarious.

Playeable civ would be good

I would say that Toady drew inspiration for the races and monsters from Dungeons and Dragons (at least the parts that aren't taken from Tolkien).  It's especially evident in the various animalman and giant animal monsters that populate the world.

Um, where do you think much of the inspiration for D&D came from? Pretty much all modern fantasy involving the most common of fantasy peoples(dwarves, elves, orc/goblins) is derived from Tolkien. You definately have a point with Toadys penchant for *men though. In the end there is very little in modern fantasy that cant be traced to ancient mythologies of some sort(purely modern creations such as Beholders et al. nonwithstanding.)

Not true because the kobold originates from D & D and they were known for being sneaky and stealy.

I once encountered a dark fortress called 'Stilledshadows the Silent Scars of Smut' which, apart from from having some wicked cool alliteration, sounds rather...painful... :)

I believe when it uses 'S' s for alliteration, it is called assossnance

a whole bunch of people started worshipping this dragon.

I wish such worshipping would show up as a religion of some sort.  It'd be nice to know just how many people each megabeast/named critter hold in dubious worship (if you check out one of the worshipers you'll find the megabeast an object of "dubious worship").

And when you kill the megabeast in question. They would not like or they woyld worship you instead.!!

I still think that Toady bases hid elves on the Spiderwick because they are quite mishcheivous and they only use bows in combat and they make there clothes out of Leafs.

Maybe we should get him down here to our humble thread to tell us. ???  :-\

I found a goblin fortress with a mix of goblins and humans.  A goblin ranger, when asked about his profession, said he had been "liberating children" for a year.

This really puts a whole new face on the goblin snatchers.
Hmmm..... hippy elvish goblins a new twist in the tale.

Anyone remember the DOS/Atari/Amiga game M.U.D.S. - Mean Ugly Dirty Sport?
Simple, violent and easily set up. A very dwarfish game.

To be brutally honest, no one would voluntarily play a game where the losers die (permenently).

You're right, dead dwarves wouldn't be much fun (though sometimes their deaths are hilarious).
I was merely explaining the rules of the original game. Knocking the enemy team unconscious would certainly suffice as secondary goal in DF.

you need to use kobold prisoneers and goblin PoW's

Hi!

I've had six story complexes before. Since the construction of towns isn't too polished ATM, it's somewhat vauge on how this exactly works.

When resource tracking is out, it will be made a bit more apparent, hopefully!

Sprout

stop copying Deathworks!

I saw we need boulder golf haha. Its golf but the dwarves have to throw a boulder from place to place. To win you need to be the fastest to finish with the least throws, so maybe a ration of time per throw. Anyways we make buildings like greens for the hole just 1x1 and the dwarf has to get the boulder there, he cant run with it. Also you make knock out your opponent by throwing the boulder at him!
For the boulder I just mean a rock thats been rounded by the mason or a hunk of metal melted into a ball by a smith, all the balls must weight the same. The nobles of course would need their ball to be made of their favorite material. For this sport strong and agile would be the attribute you need, maybe tough if you get the ball thrown at you. Remember these balls should be like 800 in weight. They can be engraved with gems and pictures of dwarfs being eaten by carp.

Hmm.... Favorite materials eh? What about bone or Gems or even meeat or a Plump Helmet Ball?
