I downloaded the most recent version of Stonesense, put it in my DF folder, loaded a game, loaded Stonesense, and it just spins its gears while saying "Connecting to Dwarf Fortress" I mean I am running the most recent version, why do these things never work right?

Because Stonesense doesn't work with 31.18... yet.
I'm so eagerly waiting for the update, first time I'm using stonesense so can anyone tell me how often they update stonesense?

I've enabled mining on my other dwarf, he picked up the copper pick, digged out some holes, disabled the mining labor and then he left the copper pick on my weapon stockpiles. Just as it should do!

But the real miner dwarf is still doing nothing (Says No Job), he didn't react nor tried to pick up the copper pick after it was used and left on the stockpile by the other dwarf.

Changing him into a Militia didn't work. Though I made a stockpile just for picks and someone moved the copper pick to it just fine. The miner is still not reacting or doing anything.
I do not have any other militias either or someones that trying to reach the copper pick.

Major bug?

Forgot to point out the miner itself in the picture, obviously hes the gray dwarf.
The Copper pick is not forbidden, there are (many) paths down to it and this is my only miner and the only copper pick.

 :'(

Decided to dig out a very small waterhole that was in the wall i was digging it, to generate some mud. My miner starts digging and as soon the water flows out, he runs away and leaves the pick behind. The water is all gone now, the pick is still lying down on the floor. I tried to disable and re-enable labor. Make some new digging designations and he stills idles.

Help!

I have another issue with my "tweaked" tileset, it seems the transparency fails on anything that isn't a completely black tile (such behind a wall).

On the image you can clearly see the miner digging out the wall and the designated walls are just pitch black, aswell goes for the noble woodcutter that is designated to cut down the "pitch black trees".
