Yeah, the invisible monster is less than terrifying. Keep playing though. This game tries to convey a lot of different fears, and whilst some of them may not play on yours, there is bound to be things that will scare you.

Huh, it would appear their site's down too. Could be unrelated, but I can't help wonder if it's not collateral damage from the bullshit DDoS pissing contest between pro-and-anti-wikileaks factions.

Pick Orks and be Goffs if you want to be good at damage control. You'll have such hordes of infantry that losing squads left right and center is to be expected on your krumpin' charge to the enemy gunline.

And, in my opinion, Orks have the best Codex for reading material!
Damn you, that made me reread the Ork codex, and now I want to make an ork army... :-\

Haha, sadly I succumbed to the Ork temptations in real life after reading the Codex. It's a really great book and they're so much fun to play.
At first I built up a small army of Goffs, but they really have a lot of infantry and it got a bit overwhelming, and a little tiring since I love painting vehicles and big things over individual infantry.

Right now I'm building up an Evil Sunz army. Lots of bikers and trukks!

I heard about this quite a bit, though when I looked for information on it, it just seemed to show a lot of terraforming and resource collection. Granted, that was quite a while back, and it's probably gotten a lot further than that now. I'll keep an eye on this one, but I really don't like the idea of buying something I know nearly nothing about.

Hope you have fun with it in the beta, though!

You should always retain evidence of the creation of your works in the event that you need to prove that you are the original creator.
If you have good, solid evidence of this, then that's a great first step.

Hot damn, where'd you get those sprites from? They look awesome.
They're found in the Custom Content section of the main forums. Just do some digging around and you'll find them.

Okay. Thanks very much!

Well, I gave it a try, and can't really say it's my cup of tea. I shan't slate it, because as it stands, it's a very nice game, just not what I was expecting.

I played for about 8 hours, in the hope that at some point I'd be able to get some nice RP done, however during that time I only really did a whole lot of grind. I guess I'm too used to RPI MU*s where Roleplaying well was the only way to gain XP, but here, it felt very, very grindy. I'd of hoped that good, quality Roleplay would be the hook that keeps bringing people back in, but that didn't seem to be the case here.

Again, to reiterate on the principles of politeness and subjectivity, I'm not saying this game is bad. I'm saying it doesn't suit my tastes, and from my point of view, isn't really very RPI.

How much does levelling and gameplay elements intervene with Roleplay? I realise that other MU*s are different from strictly MUSH type environments in that they still have XP and levelling, but I'm just wondering how much of an effect this can have, how difficult it is to level, and if it restricts you from doing things. I have been in RPIs before where I've essentially been brick walled out of scenarios because I haven't levelled up enough.

Would love to try this, though I fear I don't have a lot of time nowadays to commit to RPI MU*s. I've bookmarked it, though, and hope to come back to it at some stage.

It's not unusual to go slightly above the limit and should be okay, if you check with your opponent first, of course.

Is there a way to change the resolution? The tiny writing is giving me eye strain.

Oh, and to the guy saying that console games suck; I don't know what the hell you're talking about.  There's all kinds of games for consoles, ranging from Jenga (boomblox) to Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Mario Party to Gears of War and Dead Rising.

Just FYI:

Jenga: it's a table top game turned 3D simulation.  Woo.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit: is a game from 1998, this hardly qualifies as modern (it runs on a PS1).
Mario Party: never rated high.*  I'm looking at it now going, "WTF is this?"
Gears of War: Generic future shooter of the future that lacks anything futuristic.  Bland with a side of bland covered in brown blandsauce.
Dead Rising: Interesting story and unique gameplay lacking a tight and clean user interface.

So in other words:
Of the five titles you mentioned I'd be willing to play one of them, and even that one has issues.

*Mario Party scores a 6 to 7 on the 7-9 scale.

I don't think anyone here is trying to justify the reason people prefer consoles to PCs. The OP did not understand why some people would buy a console over a PC, and people here have given reasons. They don't necessarily have to agree with them themselves, and neither do you, but that doesn't stop them from being valid reasons. Anything beyond that is a subjective opinion and can't really be compared beyond what you believe.

Buy the console, take it out the box, plug it in, put a game in, play.

Some people don't want the hassle of a computer. They want a machine that plays games easily. Doesn't matter how simple you can interpret building a computer, buying a console and plugging it into your tv/power outlet is much simpler and is preferred by people who want it.
