I know that possesed dwarves mutter the name of the artifact they are building. If they are moving about, they are getting materials to build it, and if they are just sitting in a workshop, 'q' the workshop and you can see what the dwarf wants.

No, it's ready to start in my forced intergration goblin kennel. Good goblins get food, and bad goblins go with their parents to clean out my irrigation system.

I was just about to drown a goblin in a cage via remote lever releasement, when she gave birth. I love how even the instant goblin materializer for sieges does stuff like pregnancies.

Edit: As an added bonus, I can now tame the goblin baby (I had added the [PET] tag to goblins) because it isn't classed as an invading force.

I started out a human adventurer with the name Urist because I was being particularly unimaginative. I talked to a human macelord and he commented "Urist... your parents must have been interesting!". Is this random or is he suggesting that I'm half-dwarf?

I just had a broker party through the entire time the merchants were there, losing me an opportunity to get rid of my socks. What solutions apart from setting trading allowed to all are there to get a broker to stop what they are doing and trade?

I'm pretty sure you can't tame intelligent beings.<P>Oh, and invaders are always hostile, even if you do tame them. I learned that the hard way with some Beak Dogs modded to be tamable.

Goblins are incredibly intelligent by Dwarf Fortress standards.  Unlike our bearded charges, they don't run headlong at dragons, magma, zombie camels, or giant spiders just because there was a shoe next to them.  Goblins happily run away as soon as two or three of their number get killed.<P>In this world, they're veritable geniuses.

Ok, thanks. I actually searched for tame large animals, since that was what I wanted to do, only with goblins. Now I have to find out an entertaining way to get rid of them.

Ok, so I've added the [PET] tag and the [trAINABLE] tag to goblins, but I can't train them at the kennels with tame large animal. Does anyone have the solution?
