o-W gives me a menu for that, but I can only remove auto-kitchen by removing auto-butcher and auto-fishery with it.
You might want to report that on the bug tracker, because that doesn't sound intentional.

Part of what causes unnaturally fast mining is the current weirdness with the passage of time in Fortress Mode; 24 hours of in-game time is fewer than a hundred frames, and dwarves only need to eat twice a season.

A method that's less disturbing to read about for anyone with even the mildest form of claustrophobia would be to have the command centre double as a panic room in the event of an invasion or accident. If they can't break into it the goblins will eventually get bored and go away, and if you're sufficiently timely in ordering them to pull back when the gates are about to fall then you shouldn't lose too many people.

Its just how the object ownership works out. All the objects that can be owned by a dorf, is recorded per object, and possible the dorf has an idea of what it owns. (I'm not sure on this though. A lot of the objects a dorf owns, is things it can't use, due to lacking antics. I've never paid enough attention to clothing to tell if ownership is respected from either object to dorf or dorf to object.)

Although the main issue with coins, is not its ownership but with how its stacked, and stored. A  design issue that keeps presenting itself over and over again. You'll find it to some extend, with clothing, bolts, and medical supplies to my knowledge.
This is not insurmountable, as long as the game checks against what a dwarf owes in rent etc before transferring ownership of any coins. This would in any case cut down the amount of wasted time involved carting money to and from a dwarf's chest.

So... we've now got dwarves who can hang around to make a nuisance of themselves if they feel they've been poorly treated in life. But how about ghosts who remain for other reasons?

The spirit of a champion warrior appears before a squad defending the fortress, inspiring them to great feats of courage. A baby is about to wander into harm's way when they are diverted at the last moment by a brief glimpse of their mother. Perhaps, if the miners breach the depths of Hell itself, the spirits of dwarves from ages past could take up arms beside them in the struggle between good and evil.

Any thoughts?

77. If born into a version of DF that has yet to implement the ability to keep a knife in my boot, I will practice either mining or woodcutting until at least Competent before migrating anywhere. If confronted by any hostile creature that can run faster than me, I shall hit it very hard in the soft bits and hope for the best.

Magma forges make every other kind of metal practically free, and even if you don't have much wood, almost any map with flux on it will also have coal.

I'm still chuckling over the green glass statue of my expedition leader surrounded by mussels whilst looking terrified, made by a glassmaker who was apparently a friend of hers. I like to think of it as some kind of in-jokey thing.

And said glassmaker also provided me with a masterwork statue of the dwarven god associated with wealth, which I placed in my huge stockpile full of more stone crafts and clothing than the fortress can ever sell.
